Frank's defense is so good. Like so good. He's got to stay on the court and (obviously) improve offensively but the core of his game is there. A Frank/RJ backcourt is really big and physical. If Frank can hit 3s and RJ hit FTs I feel like these two could be part of a really good core.
RJ is great. He's got so far to grow and what we are seeing is really promising.
Franks aggressiveness has been showing recently and he's having more efficiant shooting. It makes sense because he has great form on his free throws. And he hits 3s in shootaround. I think he's a bad shooter if he has too much time to think about it. But his aggressiveness is taking his brain out of it, letting his body react more from muscle memory, and there have been better offensive games recently. That's his key. Aggresiveness. If he can learn to do that consistantly we may see the player that flashed in the World Tournament. Frank's clutch too. Can't teach that. I'm not ready to relegate Frank to a career backup role just yet. He gets better every year. A bit, but Baby steps for a cute baby.
I see it as his next step or phase. He hasnt shown enough to project him as a starter yet. He's still averaging 6ppg and 3assist in 20 mins on 39% shooting. I agree he looks much better with the eye test and I really hope his game flourishes here but its too early. Marcus Smart role is reasonable, and if Frank plays his way into something bigger... well thats exactly what we want.
Shooting is the key. Even RJ's shot is never elite his drive and dish ability at SG certainly can be. A top flight defender next him like Frank (who's gotta hit 3s) is the best fit
i am big on RJ. Intangibles are key too. to think how young he is yet he plays the game intelligently, agressively and with poise against so-called grown ass men. He's not pushing around some college freshman out there.
Those intangibles along with his IQ suggest future leader to me. The rest of our young core (frank, KK, Mitch, DSJ) are a little like the wizard of oz characters
hoping all of them continue to grow their game and that we stay patient (though i won't cry if we shed DSJ)

We just have to hope Frank can continues to make marginal improvements each season. Maybe in 2 years, he plays consistently enough to be our backup pg/closer. We still need a more offensive minded pg, who is good from 3, which I hope will be Ball in this draft. Mitch is a beast. We have 3 guys who look solid. Plus iggy and Dotson are good. Knox is still a question but he still has potential. We do have to realize that these kids are still growing. They will all be better in 2-3 years.
Iggy is good? How do you know that?
Watch the G league clips. The kid is balling. I know G league is not the NBA, but this kid's game looks very transferable to the big league. I am not saying he is an Allstar. I am just saying he looks like he has real skills that will translate when the team moves him up.
Iggy's Stats; 20.9 ppg, 7.1 rb, 3 ast, 49% FG and 34.4% 3pt, 68.7 FT

He could eventually be another Joe Ingles but we will have to be very patient.

He looks better than Knox, and plays with much more under control

Comparing Gleague Iggy to NBA Knox.
Ingles is point forward with good range avg 5 dimes a game. Gleague avg 3 assists.
Iggy and Ingles are white. There you go.
Knock Knox. Who's there?
Long term the way I see it
PG-Shooter,skilled passer,defense
RJ
SF-Shooter
PF-Shooter
Mitch
With one of the new PG,SF, PF being "the guy" who can score at will in PNR, and score the ball and RJ being a good 2nd option.
Bench:
Frank
SG
SF
Knox
C

The starting lineup sounds like
PG Haliburton
SG Barrett
SF Gallinari
PF Bertans
C RobinsoN
That would cover your criteria.

Short term? Sure, but I would hope that we would draft/trade for a cornerstone #1 option that will give any team 30 every game. Probably wont be in this draft but 2021 and especially 2022 are supposed to be very strong drafts.
Whats between the ears impresses me most about Barrett. Other rooks out there who are more explosive, dynamic. RJ still gets the job done.

He reminds me so much of Paul Pierce in that he isnt a next level athlete but his game will be able to be strong for a long time. He has an old man's game now.
