And with this fucked up govt, I can't see this going down easily

I've never seen anything like this. Breathtaking stupidity, bitter viciousness, uncaring and hateful. I honestly don't know what to say to this. How can he be a leader of a country? Any country??

I don't know whether it's Trump's skill, or its just the age we live in, but I've never seen or heard so many people so spectacularly sticking it to themselves while being so convinced they're sticking it to someone else. I get that he's tapped into some longstanding feelings of resentment, anger etc and he's using it to manipulate them to do whatever he wants them to do, and that when people are reacting emotionally, reasoning goes out the window, but you'd think after a while some sort of thinking or reflection would kick in

I try not to think about it then I see another article that forces me too.
And it causes secondary issues that are just as bad which triples the negativity
I think eventually we may have to accept a herd mentality to get out of it. I’ve read to many things about how hard a virus will be to make. The worst part is the virus really sounds scary to get for many people — it’s like Russian rouellette. Hope God can intervene a bit on this one

Problem with the tactic of letting everyone get it, is the huge death tolls, coupled with the fact that we don't know for sure how long immunity lasts. Also there's no way the economy can function with those numbers of infections and deaths- people will be terrified to go out. Plus how would everyone feel if all hell was let loose, we endured huge death rates , got to the point of herd immunity and then discovered a vaccine?

It is grim, I guess I'm trying not to look too far ahead. I suppose just because we can't envisage a way out of it yet, doesn't mean one won't happen (hopefully we get pleasantly surprised!). At the moment we just need to play for time, gather more data, see if any of the treatment and vaccines pan out. Economically, the circumstances are so unusual we just need to think outside the box and do some extraordinary measures to fix some of the damage- massive debt write offs (for people as well as businesses), etc. followed by huge investments in green infrastructure, healthcare etc.

Not too mention.... we're not even sure of the long-term effects of the virus.....people are talking dialysis, potentially lung cancer...could end up making the problem worse.

The very beginnings of herd immunity ran rampant in NYC... is this acceptable? Hospitals overrun, catastrophic death... that's not a solution. It's 9/11 over and over and over again. So far, TEN 9/11 death counts have happened in NYC (3K on 9/11, 20K so far in NYC from COVID-19). Doesn't herd immunity mean those 9/11-like death rates will grow for a long while?

Accidental herd immunity just ran rampant in meat factories across country and caused large death tolls and shut down of said factories.... that's not a solution, that's irresponsibility.

BRIGSS, you OK with walking you and your family into some COVID establishment and walking amongst sick workers? Cause that's what you are proposing with herd immunity.

Maybe I'm being overly reactive here, but that's what herd immunity entails right? Large amounts of people getting infected... which we have seen.

And just by low-grade observation, with herd immunity, we'd pretty much be AOK with a large percentage of nursing homes and the like just sacrificed, right?

People who advocate herd immunity always assume they won't die- as soon as it becomes a possibility that they might, they tend to rapidly change their mind (see Boris Johnson). Ultimately, in the doomsday scenario we might reach a point where we have no choice but to go for it, but I definitely don't think we're there yet, and I'd rather try everything else first to protect as many people as we can (I also don't want to die from it!).

He's looking at it like 5x more people die from a number of reason every yr, whether thats from murder, health, age, accidents, ect. so lets get over it

The reason he became president is because he doesn't tell what you want to hear like a politician, he tells what he feels with No filter.

the dude is an embarrassment because his agenda is so transparent (re election by any means)

Wait. I thought Trump said anyone can get a test?

EDIT: Listened to the clip the whole way. This is in Canada. My apologies.

And if you mean repeated failed businessman, then maybe we in line. I am not sure I can point to a Trump business that would define him any other way.

"I find our testing record nothing to celebrate whatsoever,” Romney said, referring to remarks made Monday by President Trump and Adm. Brett Giroir, assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services.

“I understand that politicians are going to frame data in a way that's most positive politically. Of course, I don't expect that from admirals,” Romney said to Giroir during a Senate Health Committee hearing on the coronavirus pandemic.

Martin— honestly I’m leaving this one in Gods hands. I don’t feel good about it— I’m scared— I’m very very scared. I pray we get out of it in a favorable fashion. But in the next 12 months we could be in trouble with so many individuals out of work /- it’s going to cause very major secondary issues. I’m not sure what to say.

If I had my say I’d say everyone get enough stuff to stay inside for a month — do not even go outside — that’s my take. If we all just stopped — did complete quarantine to a max effect— it’s possible in could burn out. Put this will never ever happen.

Fact is that some is making this a partisan issue....here in TX I wear a mask everywhere and limit my time out..but when the GOv opened the state I see soccer moms with kids in tow at CVS with no masks and the store manager is spraying antiseptic wiping down the self check out with a partial hazmat suit on...folks talking about freedoms and liberty and not wearing masks ......even with places like Costco requiring masks ..some people are disregarding and the employees do not want to cause issues with a potential gun toting customer....

It is strange...like we are living in two separate realities...some Folks are acting like this thing went away.....others are waiting and hoping scared....it is crazy

As Briggs said...it is in Gods hands..

That’s a big problem. A big problem that many people will follow a sensible guideline and some won’t. That’s why we’re in trouble. Even if you’re a partisan— give it up for a month and play on the same team. But it won’t happen.

Then there is 100% absolute reality that tens of millions have hit material financial hardship that threatens their self being as well as their family. I’m talking food rent — it’s going to be very hot soon— people need ac— the basics in life -MILLIONS of people tens of millions. How am I supposed to say stay at home to them anymore? Should they wear a mask/ gloves. Yes! But how are we going to enforce it can’t

Go through this and see how complex this issue really is— it’s scary and I don’t see anyone with a solution
