Only thing is injection site is a little sore but no longer slight pain. I might be on the light side of symptoms but this was not bad at all. The nurse and doctor I got the shot from did says that chances are we might have to get a booster shot every 6 months or so. Obviously everything is still fluid and timeline is subject to change when we get more info on length of immunity.
Oh man, I was hoping it would be at least a year or two. It's going to be like those video games where you have to keep reaching a rest point before your invulnerability runs out!

Great news. I always wonder, does the way you react to the vaccine have any link to how severely you would have reacted to covid?
I read that the more robust your immune system is, the more likely you are to get really sick. The younger you are, the sicker you’ll probably get. I know a lot of older people that said they felt nothing. My question is “is the vaccine as effective if you never had side effects?”
I was also wondering about people who don't get side effects. I did a little research and this is what health experts said about this issue.
What if you don't get side effects?
But not getting side effects isn't a negative, health experts say."If you don't get side effects it does not mean that you are not protected," Arwady said. "I want to be really clear about that."
According to Loafman, it simply means "your body didn't react with as much of an inflammatory response.
"You're still making antibodies," he said.
According to Loafman, every person's response is unique.
"It's really just kind of a reflection of how unique each of our systems are, what other immunities we have," he said. "You know, a lot of the antibodies cross react and we have cross reactivity so it's really a mosaic. Each of our immune systems is a mosaic composite of all that we've been through and all that we have and all we've recently been dealing with. Our individual response varies. Everybody gets gets the appropriate immune response."

Good luck. I get my 2nd pfizer this Sunday.
Nice, any reaction?
Zero reaction to the first shot other than a sore shoulder for a couple of days. Hope that means any reaction to the 2nd shot this weekend will be at the most very mild.

I needed all my kids to bully the wife to get the damn vaccine. 🤷
Team effort, all good
Wifey getting her 2nd shot tomorrow. My college kid coming home this weekend so I was able to get her an appointment for her 1st appointment for tomorrow as well. Feel like we will all be doing 6 month booster shots through next year
martin wrote:Feel like we will all be doing 6 month booster shots through next year
I had a feeling more frequent booster shots would be required at least in the short term when the much lower efficiency numbers came out vs the variants. The quicker more people can get vaccinated the quicker we can put these variants behind us and really beat this virus.

That's why we need the vaccine patents sharing globally, we need mass global vaccinations to save lives and cut the risk of mutations
A few days after the Vaccine I got a swollen lymph node by my collar bone. I heard that swollen lymph nodes under the arm is a normal side effect some people get. I never knew there was lymph nodes by your collarbone. It does not hurt or anything. Apparently lymph nodes are part of your immune system. I had no clue.

They say the more mutations, the weaker they get.... or something to that effect.

No, the hope is that the virus gets weaker with mutations (after all, on an evolutionary basis virus's fare better if they don't kill their host), but that's not guaranteed, and from the looks of Brazil and India the opposite can happen. So far the variant first identified in the UK is much more transmittable (which makes it more deadly as it overwhelms countries quicker, then the ones raging through Brazil appear to make re-infection more likely and seem to be more dangerous for younger people (and some indications it may impact pregnant women and babies more).
It seems like my symptoms were more delayed than others. I am now noticing that my body is constantly producing blood sugar. I know what this is because the same thing happened when my mother was sick with COVID. When you are stressed out your body for some reason constantly produces sugar as a coping mechanism. My body fighting what it think is COVID now is doing the exact same thing stressing it out. As a careful diabetic I keep a tight lock on my sugar levels and since a few days after the shot my sugar levels have constantly been rising throughout the day. So if any of you are diabetic keep an eye on your numbers. This is a big thing I never seen anyone say is a side effect of the vaccine.

Have you had covid before this? If not, it’s impossible for your body to think it has covid. It’s simply fighting off the spike proteins found on covid. It’s pretty fascinating technology.
I hope you feel better soon.

Yeah I should have re-worded that better. My bad. What’s happening in Brazil is a nightmare.

No, I have not had it before but that's why I said fighting off what it thinks is COVID when we all know it is just the spike protein. This might be poorly worded for what I actually meant. So lets try this again. The continually increasing blood sugar is a byproduct of your body stressing out while fighting the foreign entity in your body. Sorry, it was early in the morning when I wrote it and thanks for the well wishes.

Wifey and my daughter had the same reactions as me with their respective shots. No symptoms just a little soreness in injection location. My wife was a little tired at the end of the day but she said it's probably because she cooked a lot of Dominican food for a good part of the day. She cooks a lot when kids come home.
Getting my first shot tomorrow AM. The Moderna vaccine. They're giving Pfizer to kids locally. Had it for almost 3 months last year around this time. Wasnt fun.
OK, so its been 24 hours since my 2nd Pfizer shot...so far zero side effects. In fact, my arm isn't even sore like it was for the 1st shot.
My first shot was at this mass county vaccination event with hundreds of people (ironic considering we're suppose to practice social distancing and discourage mass gatherings). My shot yesterday was at a pharmacy. Perhaps the people giving shots at the mass event aren't as well trained in administering vaccinations compared to the pharmacist?
Anyway, so far no issues after the first 24 hours.
