I’m in NJ in Monmouth. Monmouth county apparently is a hot spot. Sure, I’m vaccinated and wearing a mask a lot more when out in public. But yesterday Monmouth had 143 COVID cases. That is up in the last two months, but flat for the week. I’m not going to stop living, but I will be mindful and careful. There is a lot of alarmism out there- and I am not trying to downplay it. Everyone in my family is vaccinated except my 11 year old, and I have thought- I could probably get him vaccinated since he is taller and I don’t recall any of the places actually checking my other kids ages when I brought them.
So I think if you and yours are vaccinated, it’s ok to relax a little.
Was vaccinated in April. Received both doses of Pfizer. Made sure not to expose myself. Maybe a trip every other week to grocery store while wearing a mask. Carried hand sanitizer. Tested positive on Monday. My 5 and 7 year old tested positive as well. They of course were not vaccinated. My wife, who was vaccinated, tested negative. I also have two older kids that were vaccinated and tested negative. This delta variant is so contagious. Think it will become more apparent that even vaccinated people are vulnerable to get it. Luckily, do believe that the vaccinated will have less severe symptoms.
I am feeling better the last couple of days but still have trouble doing much before getting winded. Can't imagine what I would have gone through if I was not vaccinated. Still keeping my fingers crossed that things continue to improve. Some say the 5 to 7 day is crucial. My main concern is for the kids. Today was there second day showing symptoms. Luckily mild with just a headache and mild fever. Still scary as hell. Take this shit seriously. I believe those that are saying this is as contagious as the chicken pox. It is.

That is messed up. I hope your kids get through this, and you as well. Are you up on the Island?
I’ve got an 11 year old who turns 12 in November and I have been toying with the idea of getting him vaccinated - I don’t recall CVS really looking too closely at his brother’s DOB.
They are going to have to enforce a vaccine requirement for public spaces and I don’t understand how here in the NYC Metro area, we aren’t honestly closer to 100% vaccinated for 12 & up.

Thank you. Have a place in the City but also have a home in Tampa. Where is where we have been most of summer and where we got it.
Definitely a tough decision. My older girls were 16 and 17. I had a hard time deciding to get them vaccinated. It was early on and still so many questions about long term risks of vaccine. Ultimately chose to give it to them. Considering they did not get it, despite three of us getting it. think it was the right decision. But like I said, it's a personal decision.
In terms of facilities checking ages. I did it through the kids primary care doctor so they already had their info. I know there are some locations where you just walk in and they give you a free vaccine but do not know logistics for getting those. Agree about their being some requirements but like I mentioned, I was vaccinated, wore a mask, did not go to bars, work or restourants and still got it. Hopefully they come up with booster for the variant.
Good luck and stay safe.

Being in FL is definitely not helpful.
And, it might be that the Pfizer vaccine isn’t as good as Moderna:
https://www.reuters.com/business/healthc...
In a study of more than 50,000 patients in the Mayo Clinic Health System, researchers found the effectiveness of Moderna's vaccine against infection had dropped to 76% in July - when the Delta variant was predominant - from 86% in early 2021. Over the same period, the effectiveness of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine had fallen to 42% from 76%, researchers said.

He’s giving them everything they want. Validation, and a license to be complete fucking morons.
Just like Trump, he’s not as dumb as some think. He’s simply catering to the absolute dumbest and most selfish fucks in existence.

This! I have been saying all along, Trump and Desantis are extremely smart because they know exactly who their base is. They will continue to push everything their ignorant masses want. They know going against the majority in these states would be political suicide. So why fight them instead of fuel their hate and ignorance. Trump figured out that there are a lot of racists, uneducated, false liberty freaks and gun right crazies out there. He then found out how easy it is to manipulate them.

If I had children and lived in those areas they would have to be home schooled. Parents have to be smart about these things. They halted school because of an inferior version of the virus. They don't think its odd that they are forcing everyone back to school with a more dangerous virus without any kind of protections? Even with protections I would be hesitant. I don't trust kids to properly wear their masks at all times in school. Kids in public cough without covering their mouth all day. They will definitely spread it to the whole family before all is said and done.
