Macri and the KNicks film school does good interviews but the not great content. Its a bit forced and diluted as he does too much I think.

I'd add to those ones: The Mismatch (used to be part of the Ringer feed) with Vernon and Kevin O'Connor.

Non-bball wise I recommend Bald Move- they have some general feeds for movies etc, they do fan commissions, plus they have feeds for shows like Better Call Saul, Westworld, etc pretty much most of the shows mentioned on here- the hosts are funny and not annoying.

Big fan of Bald Move. They give solid unpretentious, analytical takes of movies and television shows. I'd also suggest Dan Murrell if you enjoy deeper, bite sized movie analysis. I think Bill Simmons has gone the Mike and the Mad Dog route. He seems to talk about everything but sports these days. I'd take KFS sports analysis over the BS Report any day of the week

Finished “Winning time”, the HBO show about Lakers. No doubt they went far with jerry West and I can’t vouch for the innaccuracy bu the story is incredible, the stuff with Kareem is not bad, it paints Magic as human and likely some truth to much of it, and the Spencer Haywood storyline was good and acted really well. Sally Field as Jerry BUss’s mother gave a great performance. Overall a quality show. The dude that played Larry Bird was awesome. Adrian Brody as Riley? The acting was good but not sure that was a great choice.
The dude who played Magic? I think he more Magic then the real one!

I liked the "Better call Saul" finale. As some of the reviews out there pointed out, they didnt try to outdo the "Breaking Bad" finale. They stayed in their own lane.

Would have been nice to see a Kim Drexel spinoff, about her trying to rebuild her law career.

I agree. It was a satisfying, bittersweet end. Everybody seems to get their comeuppance in the BB universe, but the lucky ones also get the opportunity to have some sort of personal and spiritual growth.

I also agree! I was very sceptical about the spin off when it was first annnounced, and if you’d told me it was going to last as long as it did I’d have refused to believe you, but I thought it got better and better. Loved the last two seasons, and the ending was great.

Now deciding whether to rewatch Breaking Bad or rewatch The Shield (still annoys me how The Shield seems to have vanished from public awareness! Don’t understand how- it’s right up there with Breaking Bad in my opinion)

Is it still possible to get HBOMax? I don’t have HBO in my house and have been meaning to watch Winning Time… and House of the Dragon as well.

Just answered my own question. It looks like I can. I could have sworn I heard that HBOMax was getting scrapped completely.

Dont know if you've seen it, but one of my favorite series from the 90s, was the British show "Cracker" with Robbie Coltrane. He's a police psychologist with a gambling and drinking problem. Who helps solve murders. The cast is great and the writing is first rate. Dont know if its being streamed, but you can get the US DVD on amazon

https://www.amazon.com/Cracker-1-Ian-Mercer/dp/B0000AYJVA/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?keywords=cracker+dvd+coltrane&qid=1660786554&sr=8-5

Edit: streaming on Amazon Prime/Britbox

Yeah, they're going to merge HBOMax with Discovery + at some point. I'd say maybe another year. I'm not sure I'll re-up when that happens. It sounds like they maybe scrapping the inclusion of theatrical releases in streaming and I'm not sure how many of my favorite shows will survive the purge

It’s pretty insane how HBO Max became a respected streaming brand and its being dismantled because they want people to pay for Cable. It’s like people saying don’t use Spotify to listen to our music, just keep buying CD’s.

Yep. Like people won't just find other ways to watch their programs. There are just too many options out there for people and I'll just stop paying if the quality falls off.

House of the Dragon... Not that bad. I'm still having a tough time seeing Matt Smith as Daemon, but he might grow more 8nto the role. Good news, a lot of dragons in the first episode. Bad news, not as much nudity.

Thought he was good in "One Night in Soho". Like that he's playing the kind of roles, you dont see Smith normally attempting, or being cast in.

I couldnt get into "HOD". In the back of my head a voice was saying " oh shit, I've got to remember 100 characters again, lol. Just dont have the patience. Not really a comment on the show itself.

There are a lot of characters. But I think the action escalated quickly. I will say... There are some metal dragon fights.

Would mind seeing a big studio attempt a Black GOT. With its own world, customs, myths. Or maybe do a prequel to "Black Panther" that shows how the vibranium was used to build an empire.

I remember black characters in the fire and blood novella, including one who plays a crucial part later down the road. I wouldn't mind them GRRM going into more detail about the summer isles at some point. There's one black character who was a royal refugee that is mentioned a ASOIF.
I think the history of Wakanda's use of vibranium and interaction with Atlantis might be a plot point in Black Panther 2.

Recently subscribed to Paramount+ and binged Star Trek Discovery.

Seasons 1 and 2 were very good. 3, meh. 4, stopped watching after a few episodes.

It’s starting to feel like everything either gets canceled, or quality drops off a cliff. On all services.

Sad if true. The thing that made HBO good was it's diverse, though provoking commentary. Shows like the Sopranos, The Wire, Oz and the Leftovers or documentaries like the one on the West Memphis 3 and The Jinx wouldn't have thrived if execs just decided to play it safe. I already have Disney + if I want to watch middle of the road programming. The HBOMAX app already sucks on it's own merit. Servers weren't even capable of handling the premier of HOT D. I'm probably going to drop it sooner rather than later.

I think millions tuned in but only about 3,000 were frozen out of HOD!
I have disney and there is nothing there for me.
Hulu and others can take on "risks" if the demand is there. Handmaidens tale on Hulu is hard to watch but riviting.
