It's also possible with the genie out of the bottle the reality and horror have prevented further use in combat. If one is to put themselves in the mindset of Americans in 1945 there would have been outrage if we didn't use it. Perhaps also worth mentioning is the amount of human suffering the Japanese government and military caused.

Not saying it was a good thing and I pray it isn't unleashed again, but not to be painted with a broad brush as revisionist history tends to do I suggest.

That argument that we the US was trying to prevent further losses from a invasion, how true was that ? I always accepted it, but why would we have had to invade ? We could have kicked the Japanese out of China, Korea, and the Philippines and done an embargo of Japan and pulled out remaining forces. The bombs were detonated to punish the Japs and to scare the Russians, Id argue.

Punishing the Japanese and moreover scaring the Soviet Union are very valid points. Overall, I don't think one can definitively state what were all the causes and consequences, hence me saying none of this should be painted with a broad brush. The human suffering is not debatable, and the specter of nuclear bombs is the ongoing consequence. All these factors and more have been tossed around by historians, pundits, and you and me since August 1945.

Wednesday, on Netflix. Jenna Ortega KILLED IT. Thing could support his own show. 🤘

THE BEAR!!!!

Finally started and I went through it quick. I was iffy about a show centered around the restaurant industry. But the show is deeper than that and the character development/interpersonal drama is really captivating.

So which of you tightwads subscribes to streaming services with ads?

I’m trying to figure out if I’m a tightwad or not. Got Disney, no Hulu. Want Hulu. Looking at bundles.

All these packages/options are a pain in the nut sack.

“Quarterbacks” on Netflix is outstanding.

Was always a fan of Kirk Cousins but this series made me respect him even more.

Luther is thumbs up.

Sweet tooth went very under the radar. I think the people get wrong impression because it has sort of this superficial fairytale tone. But it's a very dark show. Hope it gets renewed.

Based on your takes I am watching Sweet Tooth - half way through the first season and I like it a lot. It stalls a little when Gus and the Big Man aren’t at the center but that just may be because their sections are so good.

I felt the same way, but I think it pays off some in season 2. Also, the animal army leader is kind of annoying when she's chewing it up.

Got through watching the first season of "Halo" on bluray. Paramount really does a great job transfering content to disc.

The show is a lot of fun, great casting, writing. The special effects are amazing. The cinematography stood out, even with all the CGI.

Makes me want to buy an Xbox lol, which is partly the point I guess. They put in elements from the game which was cool.

Watching the new season of Baki Hanma on Netflix. I won't lie... It's not everybody's cup of tea. It's anime about... Who am I kidding, the plot is nonsense🤣 It's written by a geeked out martial artist fan and the show is just a series of ridiculous, highly stylized fights. It's like pornography for action fans. It's even better when you watch it buzzed.

“I’ve asked an AI to generate a trailer for a HEIDI movie and now I can never sleep again,” filmmaker and comic Patrick Karpiczenko posted to Twitter on July 10.

Your not a tight was. When you stream you likely subscribe to various platforms. We cut Cable like 4 years ago. We pay for Netflix,Disney, HBO, Fubu. And in that time may have also bounced between YouTube.tv, and a few others. Plus picked up memberships with Paramount and a few others. Price keep going up for them too. Plus we donate to PBS so have that app as well. I'm sure we spend less now then on Cable. But the content we like is spread over so many platforms that at this point if something is on a service we don't already subscribe to might as well do it for as cheaply as possible.

LOL that’s some targeted advertising

I used to listen to right wing radio and all their ads were how to avoid speeding tickets, how to negotiate lower IRS tax settlements, and how to buy Canadian Viagra.

Finished the second half of Witcher 3. The series was never the best to begin with, but I was bit disappointed.

What cell service do you have? I have T-Mobile and they give Hulu and Tidal for free. I also have Fios for my internet at home. They give Disney+ for free as an add on.

Watched part of this season's "Black Mirror" enjoying it so far. Got up to "Mazy Day".

All of Us Are Dead on Netflix.

Fast zombies? Sign me up.

I also enjoy some of the “quirkiness” that I attribute to cultural differences. Including dialog and interactions between characters.

A couple of character arcs crack me up. But I won’t comment on them because they are spoilery.

I thought maybe I liked it more than I should have, but Rotten Tomatoes and others agree.

RIP William Friedkin. I was a kid growing up in NY when "The French Connection" premiered. I remember what a big deal it was back then. And how it changed film making.

They just released "To Live and Die in LA" in 4K. Also one of my favorite films. Waiting a little. Its almost $40 now, but it will go down.
