Knicks · Who is the one NBA player that you think wasted their career. (page 1)

Not necessarily due to injury but just lazy or poor attitude.

That player for me is Shawn Kemp.

(Stole this from one of my FB buddies.)

If not for the drugs, Sugar Ray was a 1st ballot hall of famer...Could impact the game in so many ways: scoring, passing, on the defensive end (one of the best at getting steals). The night Bernard dropped 60 on the nets on Christmas night, Sugar Ray dropped 36 pts, 5 rbs, 4 ast, and 4 stls....

I remember watching Richard Dumas back in 93 and thinking he had all the physical tools to be a star. He gave Pippen fits in the Suns-Bulls finals that year. Unfortunately he struggled with drugs and was in and out of the league a few years later.

I personally think Lamar Odom had the chance to be one of the all-time great players but didn't apply himself and was fine with being just a very good player. I also think Tim Thomas had all the tools to be at the very least a perennial all-star.

Check my handle.

I've got a few. Roy Tarpley, Sean Kemp, Vin Baker, Derrick Coleman, Stanley Roberts, Eddy Curry...

OJ Mayo was a great player and never got it together

JR Smith could have been a star but wasn’t motivated really except for when he came back to China humbled and when Lebron convinced him to play for a chip.

Allanfan20 @ 3/31/2020 10:49 PM
Eddie Curry
JesseDark @ 3/31/2020 11:35 PM
Sugar Ray Richardson is a good one. Certainly could have been a HOFer. I remember when the Knicks unloaded him the Post said, "Knicks now Sugar free." Leave it to the Post.

Yeah painfully so for us.

I'm going with Len Bias. He had it all as the 2nd pick in the '86 draft. Blew it all at a party 2 days after his selection. No chance at all...
SupremeCommander @ 4/1/2020 7:40 AM
Vin Baker, Lenny Bias, and Derrick Coleman are the first name that comes to my mind

Gilbert Arenas is another name... I think people forget how good he was before he just went batshit crazy

Knicks that come to mind are Steve Francis, Steph Marbury, (not necessarily with the Knicks) Latrell Spreewell, Sugar Ray

personally, I never thought he was going to be any good. I was posting on RealGM then and I used to get into arguments with people over saying Tyson Chandler was going to become a better player. Curry might have had the build but man he clearly had no passion for the game

Knixkik @ 4/1/2020 8:34 AM
Michael Beasley. He had Melo talent at the very least. He was unbelievably gifted on offense.

I don't think you can say a future hall of famer wasted their career.

Don't dispute genius.

Melo a HOF ? You must be kidding right ?

Sprewell was an All-Star, made it to the Finals and was perennially in the playoffs. Choking an azzhole and fiscal irresponsibility doesn't exactly equate to a wasted career.

You're kidding about kidding right? tkf has returned, apparently. Guess he's renting other login ID's.

If not for the injury, Grant Hill would have been 1 of the top 10 players to ever place em up. He was LeBron before LeBron...

Shawn Kemp wasn't lazy in Seattle.... he got into a depression in Cleveland and couldn't shake it. He looks great now. Be lost that weight last time I saw him
