We have Mitchell, Randle, Knox up front. I'd keep Bobby Portis long term on the right money. Mo Harkless probably would stay with team friendly money.
We have nothing at the PG spot except question marks.
I'd offer that kind of money and more for Fred VanVleet. He's 26 putting up 17 & 6 as the starting point guard for a play off bound team.
It makes ZERO sense to offer this kind of money to Christian Wood with the giant hole we have in our back court.
Put VanVleet on this roster next year, hope for some development from Robinson, Barrett; hope Randle settles down and has a better role next year; add some talent in the draft; and maybe Frank N turns into a decent player. And that group should be fairly competitive and aiming for the 8th slot in the East.
Add Christian Wood and who is running the offense? Barrett? Randle? Payton, god help us!
We need both!!! Hopefully we can draft our future pg, and sign a true stretch 4 who can play both sides of the ball. Neither Portis and Randle are reliable shooters and both are terrible on the defensive end.

I think dolans strategy through the years is to find gms who will be a “hit” in free agency but it doesn’t work. It is very very hard to find a player at 24 who can do what Woods does. He can play with the top players in the nba toe to toe. He’s versatile long athletic tough. He’s a big time scorer with potential to be 25-10 from the 4-5. Now is that a winning player- not necessarily but it’s all how u fill out any team. We paid Randle 21 mm and I think woods is better
The guy was making probably a mill a year..now give him 22 mill.....fireable offense
That’s doesn’t make sense. He’s probably the Nba comeback player of year. We have Bobby Portis 15 mm bidding against ourselves. Hard to find players with his skills at 24. He’s gonna get paid but it might take a step up to get him
He is going to get paid I agree...but with the cap contracting next year as expected first from the China fiasco earlier in the season and now with Covid19....22 mill is going to consume a significant part of 5ge cap...I say he gets 3 for 33...with both yr 2 and 3 team options

Yes, or less money per year but definitely the team options

yep the guard spots have to be revamped. This team needs a competent point guard before we waste Mitch and RJ

I would also include Randle in that mix of talent we're wasting, and why it's absurd to talk about adding a front court player.
Randle has his warts - but you add a real PG, and suddenly we can start to mitigate them.
BRIGGS@ 4/30/2020 12:03 PM
If we don’t get wiseman — give woods a fantastic contract draft 2 or even 3 guards
We can put mitch at 5 woods 4 Barrett 3 with two new guards
Put randle as 6th man a position I think he thrives in
wargames@ 4/30/2020 12:25 PM
I would give him 66 for 4 years. Or 48 over 3 years. I think 16 mil a year is a decent price and while a risk if he sucks, not a cap crushing mistake.
Body like Tarzan. Mentality like Jane if Jane was a whored out cum guzzling Tinder slut who has crack whore eyes and a really sh*tty teeth. And smells bad too. I just added that in for flair. I'm big on flair. Did I mention the crack whore eyes?
That was a TripleThreat classic. Up there with the Chuck Daly "PLAY STUPID GAMES WIN STUPID PRIZES" rant. Two questions though. Were any of his assertions about CWood even mildly document-able, and did he mean the crack whore-eyed Tinder slut had bad smelling teeth, or just bad BO in general?
Even though he hated Melo almost as much as tkf and dk7th, I miss that guy...
and martin, did Triple delete his post or did you? You replied to it, but his post is gone from that thread... just wondering...

I think the nba is hot on this guy. We gave Bobby Portis almost 16 mm Randle 21. We paid a lot of sht parts almost 70 mm. So I’m not worried if the Knicks pony up a bit for a 3 yr contract with a Knick option on 4. The one thing that scared me with woods is his awkward way he kicks his legs out on dunks. I’m scared he could get injured. He needs instruction on keeping his legs tight on dunks. Otherwise the guy is the only player in free agency who checks all the boxes at his position.

Hey BRIGGS, are you working the deal to include Dwayne Casey as coach?

I’m not sure it matters who coaches the Knicks — why pay anyone big money right now? Wouod I take Casey — why not. I’d like to get the head coach from Dayton on the Knicks team as a head assistant coach in waiting.

Watch woods destroy embiid and horford. He makes embiid look super slow and horford like crp.

By what barometer? YOU are hot on this guy, I think that's it?

Yeah and most of the nba! Who exactly do you like?
Here ya go martin — here’s a San Antoine writer on y woods should be a priority. If u take the time there are more articles like this from various teams. There simply isn’t other 24 yo players that are unrestricted with his talent abd size

Proof will be in the pudding when Free Agency comes about.

PG is the bigger priority and I like the VanVleet suggestion. Him paired with Frankie could be interesting. I view Woods still kinda unproven I think the situation in Detroit flatters his game/ stats. Far too much money for him at this stage.

The question isn't whether or not Wood is good. Heck, we're rumored to want him. Giving him $20 million a year is insane in this market. Let FA play out and see where it goes.

You want to find a player like van fleet in the draft. You don’t want to be the one over paying for him. He’s good on the raptors
ccinflushing@ 5/3/2020 3:44 PM
Maybe it's just me but if I'm going to offer someone that kind of contract, I'd like them to be a bit more proven .. I'd be more interested in Danilo G at that price point.
Just not sure about Wood at the price you're talking about given small sample size and his situation with Detroit. Don't think he's a great ball mover and I have some concerns about his defense.
