Knicks · Looked at many prospects the last few days. This guy stood out. Saddiq Bey (page 2)

Finally was able to see his clip. Man, he reminds me of Kiki Vandeweghe. The release, the form, the gliding motion. I like it a lot

I keep coming back here. IF we don’t get a top 3 pick why don’t we take what I think is the best shooter in the draft? He’s almost 6-9 he’s a GREAT defender he fits in perfect— we leave rJ at 2 move bey to 3.

We use 27 and Knox to move up for
Kira Lewis
Pritchard 38
2 pgs and a 3.

Starting unit would be a top defense and rebounding team

Saddiq is one of the players I think the knicks should trade up for. I would see if anyone wants to trade a pick for that 2023 Mavs pick. Maybe the Celtics at #17

I think Bey fits the Celtics as "Haywood" insurance. I assume Haywood opts into his player option this year, but things get dicey after that. I am all in for trading up for Kir Lewis or Bey tho.

Gordon is my 2021 FA target for the Knicks. I don’t want him to opt out now because I don’t think the knicks are in a position to try and get him.

I don’t think Saddiq could do what Gordon does. He would be a Jae Crowder type player for them. Honestly with Tatum and Brown there they need to try and replace what Horford brought to their team more than anything.

It would be tough to replace what Hayward gave them no matter how you look at it. Bey just gives them an option of a younger, sturdy combo forward on the cheap. Gordon is 30, with injury concerns. Would it make sense for them to pay Hayward, Tatum, Brown and Kemba to large deals? I have no idea what their thought are on that. Portland might also be a good partner to trade with. Could a cheap Reggie Bullock contract, Dallas first and another second get a deal done? What the Nets ever consider dealing with us lol Things are difficult to forecast right now.

I think the most likely trade partners is the Celtics at #17 (they literally have too many picks for their roster), the wolves at #16 (they may want to do a salary switch for one of our expiring so they can comfortably sign Malik Beasley), Denver at #20 might move down because they have a lot of depth and could use money based on rumors. Utah at #24 might trade with us to get under the the cap.

I think there are going to be multiple opportunities to move up and even just acquire 1st round picks.

Even better defensively if you start Frankie ( praying his playmaking & jumper improve ).

Makes a lot of sense strategically Briggs. High percentage chance Kira turns out the steal of the draft. What’s your thought process on the addition of another pg? To replace Frankie from the starting 5? Your view on possible FA VanVleet as an addition? Or just to banish Payton and DSJ?

I’m really high on Nesmith, but as a comparison Bey is far more versatile with his overall skill set. Wouldn’t be disappointed with either.

Nesmith looks like Allan Houston. Very similar size abd touch/game.

Knew there was something I liked about this guy!! ( Allan Houston one of my most favourite players ever!! ) what’s your strategy on drafting PG - What’s your thought process on the addition of another pg? To replace Frankie from the starting 5? The word on Nesmith is poor defense. Bey comes up as slow of foot, but his jumper is wet. What can we do to get Lewis as PG and Bey as a SF?

Bay is the best interchange perimeter defender in this draft with a high end 3 pt shot on volume. His value is off the charts. Makes Barrett better

This is why Bey fits in with the Knicks do well. He’s a GREAT defender and he has excellent and proficient 3 point shooting. That will allow Barrett more room to thrive. 16-5-3 with high efg. That’s a great team player. I’m all in on Saddiq if we don’t score picks 1-3. I’m all in picks 7/9. The Pgs will take way to long to develop

Can't look at it that way. This team still sucks is not at the point where it can start drafting solely on need or ability to contribute immediately. We need talent, period! That said, I think scouts get lost in a prospects perceived upside. A prospect isn't fully developed at age 21 hahaha. I think lottery is too high to pick Bey because of the pick's value, but I wouldn't trying to parlay our pick into more picks in the area Bey is slotted.

There’s some things I k ow with bey right away
First off he’s got great size for the 2-3-4 versatile
He can shoot it very well from pro 3 point range
He was an all level versatile defender in college on a great team.
He’s a good passer
He’s the 3 and d guy most good teams have but with more versatility
So he’s a high level fit for this team. Plug and play especially for the 3 and D. We know he can shot and play D! I don’t have to think about it— I really don’t need a fancy pg. I need a team player from the pg. He’s gonna make Barrett better and our team better. Maybe the shiny penny looks nicer but the dirty nickel is worth more!
Even better if we can trade down and get a Nesmith Bey abd Smith type draft. I want guys who can play now

Are we at the point where our main consideration should who fits the best with RJ? I'm excited about RJ, but I'm not sure he can be an engine that can drive a good team offensively. Nesmith does fill a need for us, but so do most of the players slotted in the top 10. We shouldn't take the Portland mindset of drafting Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan because we already have Clyde Dexler.

I still would like for the knicks to move up from 27 to see if they could grab this kid. He is a Jae Crowder type of player.

Yeah, except I think he can actually shoot. He'll make some NBA coach happy.
