Knicks · Report: Lauri Markkanen would rather play elsewhere if there aren't major changes to Bulls' plan (page 1)

Dallas pick, Knox and Portis to give them some salary flexibility as starting offer. Randle, DSJ too. Throw in Frank, but they can't get a pick in that exchange. What are some realistic packages in a Lauri trade scenario?

That would be great. I wonder if major changes are a new front office and head coach. They are headed in that direction according to reports. Woj called the Chicago front office job a great situation

Didn’t Valentine want out of Chicago as well? I think someone, Leroux or Duncan, said they thought Valentine could be a great pick up for a team and woukd thrive away from the Bulls.

I think like most of here, I dont watch many Bulls games. Looking at stats, the lack of rebounding (7.6 rbs over his 3y career) for a 7'0 player and his low fg% (43%) is worrisome...Also, missed close to 30 games the last 2 seasons. Not very enthusiastic about pursuing him...I need more info.

Lauri still on Rookie contract, next year makes $6.7M. Not sure how Portis would fit in salary exchange with Knox.

Soft injury prone under achiever

He's only played 2.7 seasons and he was playing hurt. How do you come to that conclusion.

I was thinking we could take on undesirable contracts. Maybe we can do that instead of giving up a pick.

You actually partially proved his point.

He's hurt, but the fact that he continues to play proves he's not soft. Plus, he doesnt shy away from contact. Anyway, it's way too early in his career to make such declarative statements. Imagine if we called Brandon Ingram a soft, injuryprone,
underachiever after last season and wrote him off without taking into considerating his age and the environment he played in?

Lauri (if healed) could be a positive addition at the 4 to open things up for Mitch. Big question is if he has recovered but definitely see talent there and still on a good contract. I'd try to offer a package with Randle and Knox (or DSJr) for Thad Young, Valentine and Lauri. If he's confirmed healthy, I'd be willing to add 1 of the Dallas picks. Since he's unhappy that may help us potentially land him. Just don't know much about hip injuries...

Looking at the names of the GM's the Bulls are pursuing, I think there will be radical changes, so don't really see Markkanen being traded this offseason

Also I doubt they trade Lauri until the new GM is onboarded and settled so if it was to happen it would be during the season. Knicks should still roll the dice on Christian Wood if he can be acquired for a decent price.

What exactly are you proposing here? Pick, Knox, portis, Randle AND DSJ, swap frank for the pick? or 5 players for baslically a channing frye kind of player?
He is a stretch 4, so those Rebound number would be soft.
Paxon and Foreman are both on the outs. Thus, changes are coming. Bulls are a shyt show not disimilar to ours. Reinsdorf is not the dick Dolan is but the team has squandered talent for years with bad deals and the owner meddles frequently.

I'm just throwing out combinations. I'd rather throw in Portis if they wanted salary relief, but I'd be open to Randle too. Lauri is more talented than a Channing Frye player. He can shoot of a pin downs, curls etc. He can operate in the mid-post and take his man off the dribble. He's complete offensively and could work well with RJ.

Nalod @ 4/7/2020 12:44 AM
I’m not anti Lauri. just tryin got figure your trade scenario.
wargames @ 4/7/2020 5:40 AM
I rather we go after Christian Woods they have the same strengths/Weaknesses but Woods is a better rim protector and isn’t demanding more touches like Lauri is.
SupremeCommander @ 4/7/2020 10:39 AM
this year was bad for him. he was good in his first two seasons. i would not be against buying low on him.
knicks1248 @ 4/7/2020 1:12 PM
We have had zero luck with underachievers, he is just another Mario.

He's had success in his rookie and sophomore seasons. Can you name one successful season that Mario's had?

he had a great 2nd half of his last season in orlando,I think that's why we signed him. Look like he was coming into his own

Markkanen is a lazy player on both ends and he settles for way too many perimeter shots, that's why is a poor shooter(like frank). Scared of contact
