The only acceptable way for Kidd to be part of the coaching staff is as an assistant nothing more. But i hope he just stays with the Lakers, please!

Why do WE get the ridicule?- shouldn't that lie with the beat writers for constantly getting it wrong? Always annoys me that we get ridiculed for their mistakes.

I'm not pro Thibodeau, but if they want him to be the coach, then they have to let him pretty much assemble his staff. If they don't agree, then don't hire him.

I think Hardy's great interview disrutped the process.

One of the problems when you decide to work for your friend who would now be your boss- I personally wouldn't do it.

This could be Thibs last big potential coaching payday. He's at an age where unless you are entrenched, it's not a help to be older.

Thibs will likely be fired in 2 to 3 years, he knows it, the Knicks know it. So the Knicks aren't looking to pay him longer than that. Rose is going to want a line of succession coach on the staff if Thibs is the head coach. That's the sticking point beyond the money.

The real problem of course is there were people in the league administration who suggested to Dolan to look at Travis Schlenk before he took the Hawks job. It's kind of interesting when I see some people here say the NBA wants NY to fail. Honestly, they very much want the Knicks to succeed, it only increases the bottom line for the entire league money wise.

Schlenk has done a wonderful job with the Hawks given their situation. From what I hear, several people on the Heat offered to cut their own salaries to try to get Schlenk to stay, he was seen as that much of a rising star. People want to work with him, if Dolan has listened, the Knicks would have way more options in their coaching search.

I hope Rose works out, as he's the defacto GM now, but honestly there was so much front office talent out there that a cash rich team like the Knicks could have had. Small market teams have better medical and scouting staffs than the Knicks. Also better international/outreach systems entrenched overseas. The LA Dodgers are showing what happens when you combine financial might with actual front office talent.

The fact that Thibs is a front runner ( he's not a bad coach by any stretch) is basically another tax on this team for having Dolan at the top.

How do you fuck this up? I mean Jesus H Christ, the league is literally handing you a top shelf executive, you only need to hire the guy, sign a big check and leave him alone and let him run his calculator brigade and let him rebuild your team into a winner for you.

I Personally turned down a Job a very close friend offered me because he would have been my Manager, Plus his cousin is My GF..

It was either going to be really good or really bad

A wise decision! I went for the really bad option and it did not end well!

How close? Does he invite you over to watch The Notebook but then starts crying only halfway through? Doe he sing Atlantic Starr's Secret Lover really loud in the shower so you can hear him? Does he floss in front you, like really really slow, while gazing in your eyes? When he walks behind you, doe he joke about being great at spooning? Do you guys make fondue together?

A few days ago, there was a article pointing out how Thibs would be open to the idea of allowing the Knicks to add an assistant or 2 to his staff. That info could have been leaked by Thibs camp if true. The Kidd stories could be a leak from the Knicks to lite a fire under Thibs. Im speculating but who knows at this point.

I probably am more supportive of someone from the Popovich school. We kind of lost this when we signed Fiz instead of Bud. Ime Udoka would be a very interesting choice. Really haven’t heard enough about Becky Hammon to think she would leave the Spurs. She probably has already been given some assurances there.

I think Ime Udoka with Miller and Woodson on his squad would be my choice.

I would be ok with this too! Hardy is another good assistant coach choice to promote to the HC position.

Lets not start "The Notebook" /"Fried Green Tomatoes" wars again. Enough blood has been shed.

Forcing assistants on thibs, is like forcing hornacek to coach the triangle. He needs atleast 2 people he has history with to be an assistant coach and have a say on the pool of assistant coaches they are seeing. This just creates an uncomfortable work environment for him

That is incorrect.

One example was Hornecek being told how to accomplish a task, the other is Thibs being told who to accomplish a task with. The first is micro management, the second is basically what everyone in every field not called sports deals with when HR hires their staff for them. Basically Billions of people succeed not choosing their assistants every day.

Also for anyone who blames the players for the Minnesota fiasco. That falls on his assistants. Thibs as a HC is in charge of overall strategy and in game execution. His assistant coaches are in charge of player prep and 1 on 1 player development. You cannot reasonably bring over the whole failing team from the wolves and expect different. Something has to give after that big of a failure, especially when the Knicks hiring Thibs is based on him updating his system To be more modern. Who on his original coaching staff will bring any ideas to do that, because they sure didn’t when he was losing in Minnesota. Also bad defenders or not, most of those wolves looked lost playing for Thibs, that falls directly on his assistants.

If Rose is going to do Nepotism, at least he is smart enough not to forego all good business practices when doing it.

I feel like Fiz was so bad, Hornacek doesn't get trashed enough anymore- I forget he even coached the team.

Fisher -> Rambis -> Hornacek -> Fiz has to be one of the worst run of coaches in league history, none of them were good at anything!

So your equating your employment opportunity with your friend and is cousin of your your girlfriend to Leon ad Thibs? So was your friend your agent prior to him offering your a job? What Ego trip are you on?

seems Thibs and Leon were friends because he was his agent. Somtimes you get friendly with someone you work with because you get to know them, and RESPECT THEM! RESPECT EARNED FROM SEEING THEM WORK UP CLOSE! ITS JUST NEPOTISM IF THE RELATIONSHIP FIRST AND FORMOST.

For you to forego an opportunity from a friend must mean one of you are not comfortable with it. Maybe you felt your friend was being charitable? Since your GF is his cousin, maybe your sort of not cool or embarrassed with something in the relationship?
