Knicks · Second look pick 27. We haven’t gone in detail here focusing on lottery (page 1)

Pick 27. Paul Reed F DePaul player resembles Paskal Sikam
I’ve focused on pg pg pg but have been looking big the last week realizing that we it’s not likely we go that way u top
Watch the video on Reed here and compare contrast to to Sikam in college. Many many same attributes
This guy could be the major sleeper of the draft

Finding a PF to pair next to Mitch is one of the priorities. Ideally he would be in the Rasheed Wallace or Siakam mold. Guard out to the perimeter, knock down 3s himself. Great help defense to compliment Mitch's rim protection. Think Rasheed & Ben Wallace combination.
TheGame@ 6/27/2020 12:57 PM
He looks like a good prospect. I saw one block and some steals. In junior year: 31.7 minutes per game, 15.1 points per game on 51.6% percent shooting (30.8% from three, 73.8% from the free throw line) 10.7 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 1.9 steal, 1.6 assist. That is solid production. He will have to improve the 3s, but overall, he would be a good pick at 27.

He’s got that special combination of size athleticsm and body control that differentiates players at times. Good handle for 6-9. Two way player with triple threat offense — also avg almost 2 assists.

Paul reed, Cassius Stanley, and Patrick Williams are the guys I like at 27.
Paul reed is actually nice but older and should be there at 27. The other too are Rawer prospects but show potential.
Reed actually reminds me of Josh Smith from those 2000’s Atlanta teams.
Uptown@ 6/27/2020 6:31 PM
Reed is a good prospect. Good defensive prospect with a great motor. Reed has an ugly shooting form that may need to be broken down and built back up. If we are looking for a PF prospect with our late 1st round pick, I'd much rather take Jalen Smith over Reed. Smith is more athletic, is taller, has a great motor, is a great rim runner and has a smoother shooting form.

Totally agree with your assessment...A PF that can not only play on the perimeter but can guard the perimeter as well.
fitzfarm@ 6/27/2020 6:44 PM
I think the two things Paul reed has that Jalen smith doesn’t have is being able to handle the rock in transition and supernatural athleticism. I like both but Jalen seems slow on his feet and uses his wingspan to block vs athletic ability... I think the biggest thing to look at with transition from college to pros for bigs is quickness and pure athleticism. Jalen looks like a good back up 5 where Paul looks like a sleeper starter/possible star with work .

Stanley is one of the most explosive athletes in the draft. Showed a much better shot than the scouting report suggested when he was coming out of HS. Needs to work on his handle though....With that said, I highly doubt he will be there when pick.

Its close...Thats why both will possibly be available at the back end of the draft as opposed to the front end. Reeds best attribute is his motor and the way he attacks the glass. Very good athlete. I think he will need to fix his shooting form in order to be a more consistent shooter.
What I like about Smith is the crazy improvement he showed from last year to this year. He was a different player this year, especially the second half of the season. My assessment of Smith is from actually seeing him play some games, not just from youtube highlights. He's trending up and there is still plenty of room for improvement. I do not see a player with slow feet, though. I see a fluid athlete thats quick off his feet.
With that said, I wouldn't complain if we ended up with Reed with our second pick...I think Reed has a chance to be a good player too...

Statistically, the two of them are very similar though Reed can defend the perimeter better and Smith is a much better 3 pt shooter. Game tape though, I got to give it to Reed, he just seems more aggressive on both sides of the floor. Depaul seems to have a fast offense as well we're when Reed gets the ball he is free to drive.

Maybe not. A lot of mocks have him in the second round. You see guys like smith move up and down the draft. I think it is because he's a junior and that shot is legit funky, plus the trend is for PF to shoot 3's more. He just reminds me of Josh Smith who was a good player in spite his inability to shoot the 3.

Its close...I would be fine with either one....But the fact that Smith can play the 4 & 5, defend the rim and shoot 3s make him a bit more valuable. It's a good chance Smith will be off the board for our 2nd 1st rd pick while Reed might be there for our 2nd rd pick.
I love Reeds motor and athleticism, though. He can fit next to Mitch. He just needs to completely break down his shot and build it back up...

Tgis is paskal siacam at New Mexico State. He didn’t even shoot 3s
They look very similar

Josh Smith went 17 that is where his value is to me. Looks like a guy that would go after the lottery but before 20. Good player would be thrilled if we got him at 27

I do t think u can ever draft someone in the late 20 s with a pencil in to start them.we may have the least talent in the league. Right now we need good players. We’re not 1-2-3 players away unless LeBron is coming
Plus reed has triple threat two way skills. I like him

I wouldn't hate this pick unless we drafted Toppin in the lottery.

Agreed. I do think we are getting a PG but this would definitely help. I could also see Knox being ahead of him and him subbing at a 4/5 where we do honestly need depth.

Agree with the bold. With our first pick, we need to select the best player available. If the best player available when we pick is a pg, so be it. I like Hayes and Haliburton as prospects but I'm not in love with them...
