We got hit pretty hard here in Southern Dutchess County. Lost power around 1PM yesterday and got it back 10:30pm. My neighbors on other grids still have no power this morning.
Sky looked scary yesterday and the winds were very strong. Big trees swaying like they were nothing. We got rain but not the flood watch warning that everyone expected.
Cell Data was gone too. This morning my cell service is on roaming.
I think I will need to buy a generator soon. Just in case.
How is everybody else doing?

I have family in Westchester and Rockland. Rockland got their power back this morning. Westchester will doesn't have power. Well, at least for where my family is located in their respective counties.

Doing ok. My block was lucky but there are fallen trees all over the streets around here. I haven’t watched the news at all the past couple of days to be honest. Hopefully the casualties from all the fallen trees is minimal if not zero. A lot of people (myself included) were on the roads though so I somehow doubt it.
There is a lot of cleaning up to do. A lot of people, on FB, are complaining about their hammocks being destroyed. All I think of is this....

A lot of trees didn’t survive this storm. It did quite a lot of damage in Westchester.

welcome to our world down south. We get this shyt like once a year. Two years ago lost 4 trees on my property. I put a 10k generator at my moms house and we going there if we Lose it in extreme heat/cold. We get Ice storms and it shuts things down for days. Pandemic makes safety shelters very problematic if a big storm comes.

Yeah. I thought I was in the eye of the storm yesterday. Shit flying everywhere. Thank god I had my problem trees cut a month ago. We were getting swirling winds then it stopped and then sun peaked through the black clouds. Minutes later it got dark again and winds just whipping shit around. A lot of trees down in my neighborhood. In Westchester....my sisters in-laws had their big Pecan tree go down into the neighbors fence and back porch.

I took a walk last evening in Bay Ridge Brooklyn where I live and saw 3 parked cars smashed by trees and 2 houses including electric lines. All around Brooklyn trees and branches strewn all over.

Wow, I can really hear the Pixies influence. Gotta give Al his props as a musician.

I’d have to guess it might have been 20 years ago I took my son, who I guess was 9 to see him at a house of blues and really the band had chops and his act was enjoyable. he was “old” then, he has had a very long career!!

Hope everyone is OK. When I first moved to this area, there were a lot of outages from downed trees, old power infrastructure. Was getting routine outages from 4 to 8 hours. Bought this lithium battery (when it was cheaper) has Wi-fi now, which I dont need.
It is an amazing battery which can run fridges, big screen TVs. Holds more than the average charger, and now they sell expansion lead acid batteries you can chain to the main battery, with an adapter. Havent needed that much capacity, but those of you who have outages lasting days or weeks, might.
