I suppose we have moved on from Josh Lonstaff? BTW, He is an assistant with Milwaukee.

If you recall, back in May, Knicks hired Utah’s Walt Perrin as assistant general manager. Gotta assume it was his call

Don’t mind poaching from Utah or Denver FO and Coaching. They routinely get things right.

That being said:

Sources contend Knicks vice president William Wesley pushed for Kentucky assistant Kenny Payne, Johnnie Bryant and Mike Woodson, whose hiring appears imminent.

Perrin in the college scout / draft preparation guy. He has a seat at the table but I don't think he makes hiring decision.

Not for nothing, Johnny was Damian Lillard’s mentor before anyone knew who Lillard was.

Let’s then just go on we grow our own Johnny Bryant next great player! Chasing the others is not the way forward.
If we can get a trade done, so be it but he is here to change the narrative one way or another!

I think that is more the point of this hiring - that Donovan Mitchell relationship and the Damian Lillard relationship doesn’t really have the ability to bring either player to NY in the short-term. Contract status makes that difficult - absent a trade demand acquiesced to by their current team. Seems unlikely. This seems to be more about player development than free agency.
