I’ve moved Avdiga from 4-2. I think he’s Golden States top pick if they get 1 and I think he’s gone ahead of guys like Ball and Halliburton as he can transition to pg at 6-9

Why wouldn't Toppin be a top GS pick, especially before Avdija? Feel like he is more NBA ready and is a better spacer.
Do think GS is another team that would trade down if they got a top pick and could pick up an extra draft pick, if it's possible.
Also, is Avdija really a PG type?

By PG, I think you mean forward who can run an offense. I could see Deni growing into that role. I still think Edwards is more likely if they keep the top pick. I could see them trading down if Ball or Wiseman is left on the board. Hopefully, they make a deal with us.
Well I'm treating the question this way, who are the top three players at every Knicks pick that I would be happy to see them come away with.
So at the topmost pick [currently six but who cares?] - Toppin, Vassell, or Avdija
At the second level, Tyrell Terry, Jalen Smith, or Tyler Bey
That second-rounder - Skylar Mays, Grant Riller, or Killian Tillie
The draft is chock full of 18 - 20 year olds. IMO, that's too young unless there's an obvious chance worth taking. So the bias in these picks is slightly more mature, less project-prone picks.
Top 3 is tough until we know where we pick. If we get to the top of the draft it’s Ball, Edwards and Haliburton. If we stay or drop slightly it’s Haliburton, Nesmith and Vassell for me.
I think we've seen the Dani movie before and it's not a happy ending.
I'm also worried about all of these string beans, seems like we have more at the top of the draft than typical. Lonzo, Ingraham, ISaac, Nerlens to a large degree earlier KP. It's a long season to be bouncing off picks like a ping pong ball. Sometimes it works out (e.g., Giannis was a string bean at one point) but it seems like a lot of times it doesn't

Halliburton is where I think (hope) we end up. But, if Toppin were available, I don’t think you can pass on him.
I am biased against Ball cause of his Dad. Also, don’t really need more guards that can’t shoot the 3. Same issue for Edwards. And Okoro.
I am still skeptical of Deni. I’d consider him in place of Wiseman if I knew a bit more. I just think you tend to lose more than you win with guys playing in foreign leagues.
So, my choices are a bit conservative in approach. Guys that are unlikely to fail, but also unlikely to be the best player in the draft 10 years from now. Ball or Edwards will likely be the best player in this draft. But they also might flame out magnificently. And I don’t think they help the current team develop, I think the Knicks need outside shooting to develop their players

Toppin is really an x-factor for me. I still like Haliburton and the shooters but I’m also intrigued by Toppin. He’s a New York and an nba ready contributor. My concern is his fit next to Mitch. Can he become a true stretch 4? And do we really go with a big ?
Toppin really reminds me of Shawn Marion. He seems to be able to hit the 3, not a ton of volume. His age is the real concern. A 22 year old playing against 18 and 19 year olds as a fifth year player. You aren’t buying upside, you are getting the player that he is. My positioning is based on the idea that his shooting translates into the NBA.
Haliburton’s shooting is also why I am high on him.
Wiseman will probably crush it in the NBA. He really is my number one, I just like Mitchell Robinson too much to rank him higher.
Top 3 picks for the Knicks would be:
- Haliburton
- Nesmith
- Vassel
We need shooters desperately.
Take a great role player that fits. This draft is even more a crapshoot than usual.
Next year, we can take more risks.

Where do you get this 20 point scorer thing from? His ppg this past season was 13.5

Does that make him a top 3? Have you seen a full actual game? Not just highlights? Have you considered his limited season in 2019/2020 (14 games)? The weak competition during games?
For me, he just does not have the explosiveness of a top 20 draft player. He had trouble creating against teams like Liberty, SLU and Davidson. His shot is slow and he barely gets off the ground on defended drives. Think there are several others that are more athletic and better suited for the NBA.
I will just be glad when our pick is set tonight, and we can base these arguments on actual draft position. Ball is my top 1,2, and 3 player. I have believed in this kid since high school. He is going to take 2 years to develop, but this kid will be like a young Penny Hardaway. He and RJ will form the best backcourt we have had since Frazier and Monroe.

I want to believe. But, I think this media will destroy his chances to succeed by getting his Dad to create click-bait endlessly. I don't think this Knicks organization can deal with a media circus like that. So, while I acknowledge his upside is as high as anyone in the draft, I worry that he will not be able to succeed under Broadway's bright lights. That volatility in outcomes is hard for me to overcome.

I'm changing mine from Vassell to Toppin. My big board overall is

10. Hayes
Only because a cohort of Knicks fans believe the team is desperate for a point guard are all these PGs rated so highly.
Its appropriate that Ball is listed as #1 - a guarantee that he's an over-rated bust.
Most of these players could just as well be rated 11 - 20, IMO. A profoundly young front-loaded draft set of rankings. Regrets will abound.
Thankfully the Knicks are a phase away from pure speculation and can well afford a 20+ year old pick or two.
