I hope it is true. Westbrook is an incredible talent, but I would not want the Knicks to acquire him except in a true firesale. We are providing a service to Houston by taking his salary off their books, so that should be value enough for the Rockets. I.e. no valuable assets in return: no picks, no promising young players. Randle should be it, maybe we also toss in DSJr to give the guy a chance for a fresh start in a small city, where he'd feel more comfortable. But I really doubt Houston would do such a deal. Didn't they mortgage their house and their barn for Westbrook?
The thing is, there are other teams that have cap space to absorb Westbrook's contract. Its that competition that can bring the price up! Hopefully the knick can come up with a deal that will leave enough assets (Randle, dsj or even knox) to swing another trade for a second star. Ideally im hoping the knicks can still maintain having a first rounder every year after these two trades are made so moving forward the knicks can still build up for the future.

No juice required for Hayward, think he's planning on opting out if he can get a big-ish multi year deal, though I think he'd probably rather sign with the Pacers as he has links to Indiana.
2021 draft is deep, it's stupid to load up on Westbrook- short term shot in the arm, followed by being back at square one- we never learn.

The rockets want to dump Westbrook’s salary. Even if the Knicks gave up absolutely nothing it’s a good trade for the Rockets. The Rockets owner, Tilman Fertita, is in the restaurant industry which has taken a beating during Covid19 plus the rockets haven’t had gate receipts since last March

Knicks have the lowest payroll and most cap space of any nba team especially if they start declining team options on players like Bobby Portis
That was the original source of all the Chris Paul/Westbrook rumors. The Knicks can actually get far enough under the cap to simply take either player as a salary dump without giving up significant assets

I’ll tell you this... if Wall stays healthy, then that’s a pretty nice team the Rockets could have with Wall and probably LeVert, DinWiddie and maybe Allen. Those players are the Nets loss. They kept the team better than when they didn’t have Kyrie!
