Knicks · How Would You Feel About Russell Westbrook As A New York Knick? (page 9)

He has a fat contract but won’t give his new coach a chance?
Rumors are Harden not even retuning anyone calls in the organization! I get new owners want to run the show but he botched MDA, ran off Morey and now has two stars disgruntled.
Its been written Morey was not on board with the Westbrook thing but its the owners call. Sound familiar?

The owner is an a*shole, but also cheap.

Knicks actually are in a good spot, the best players are on rookie deals, we have a respected coach and multiple draft picks.

If we trade for westbrook using the signings of last year(Portis, Payton, ellington) it puts us in a position to trade Randle for a quality player.

Being an asshole is a tangible quality. Dolan is one and we love our knicks anyway. As for cheap? He has owned the team since Sept of 2017 all the while spending pretty good to keep a competitive team.
This guys core businesses of hospitality and Restaurants on top of owning a NBA team in the time of covid an awful formula. What is happening there? Westbrook and Harden are under contract but the team cutting expenses and they not down for the result? All good when the money is there, and under contract it will be for them but its a tough business and they want out? Ok, its a business like any other.
Dolans core business are not great now but at least we don’t see signs its an issue. Maybe the lesson is if you have an asshole owner its good to have one that has deep pockets?

It sounded like Westbrook had issues with locker room. You might not be a big fan of Westbrook's style of play. I know I'm not. But the dude does give effort and he expects a lot from his teammates. It's not like he initially forced his way off OKC. They gave him a nudge. I genuinely believe that Westbrook is one of the few stars that isn't scared of NY and welcomes the challenge. I'm just not in the mindsett where I can watch a guy chuck up shots with ( if we're lucky) 42% fgp and 30% three point field goal percentage.

He is sensitive as f’. He thinks every question asked by the media is stupid or annoying. There is no way he can handle the heat.

Putting him here as an attractive gate pleaser (starphuch) via owner command I would not be down for.
My take is Morey said “fuck this”. Not sure what “This” would have been.
Harden not answering his phone as rumored. MDA said “phuch this” as well. Now Westbrook is muttering those words. Would be interesting for JVG take if he was offered the gig or he caught the stench, the cap restraints and lack of assets to rebuild and felt similarly.
Harden’s style is not always pretty to watch but in my opinion not using high analytics I thought Morey and MDA wrung out about the most of their rosters which to me were never real contenders. They sort of “petered out”. Thats not a bad thing BTW. Toronto banged on that door, Philly been too. Good teams just not quite there. sometimes they keep going forward like Raptors did with one year Kawahi and somtimes it was like CP3’s clippers and the Rockets. Westbrook is a tough fit for many teams.

I think that stubbornness and cantankerous personality might be the reason he can stand the heat. But it's also the reason why he has so many 1-7 nights from three. To steal a line from Dinosaur Jr.: "Seen enough to eye you, But I've seen to much to try you." I admire many of the qualities that make up Westbrook's game, but adding him would be like pouring more gas into the dumpster fire.

Nalod @ 11/12/2020 1:05 PM

I’m kind of on board with all both SAS and Max.
and the point of Westbrook at the right price. Nalod don’t know what that is BTW.
I’d just as soon pass. IF they do it I likely will think we overpaid.

I read the hornets might be interested in Westbrook. If CP3 went to the Suns and Westbrook went to the Hornets, that takes two of the teams with big cap space out of the running, which could be very good for us in terms of helping facilitate trades and take on salary dumps.

If Jordan wants Westbrook, that means there's one less landmine to deal with. I still want to the Knicks to get involved with the Suns and OKC. I think there's a good chance we could come away with Rubio.
NYKBocker @ 11/12/2020 7:29 PM
Please no westbrook. Unless we giving them Randle and DSJr then the answer is a hell no

Frankly Houston should just trade Harden for Giannis. Place is already a shitshow why not more chaos?

If Houston calls me with that proposal, I'd probably laugh so hard I'd crap my pants. Then I'd counter with Eric Bledsoe for Westbrook and 3 future first rounders for craps and giggles. Afterwards I'd tell them my dog will handle all future negotiations.

I was also thinking Rubio, but didn't he and Thibs have issues with the Twolves? Thibs traded him away saying ti was best for the team, as I don't think Thibs system was a good fit for Rubio's style of play

I'm just glad we have a real negotiator and a cap guru at the Helm.

That's why I'm baffled that people think this regime would get fleece on any deal made, no matter who it's for

So far Rose looks patient. Isiah would have traded all of our draft picks for Kemba Walker by now

OKC talking to Phoenix reeks of them trying to get Rose to offer RJ or Mitch

Let them have at it. Phoenix has more to offer. Just means Rose moves to plans b,c or d.

Not sure. It sounded like Thibs liked Rubio, but he just felt Teague was a better fit for that situation. Rubio, at his current deal, would make sense for the Knicks now. Kelly Oubre also fills a need in his final contract year.

What if we got Robert Covington aswell but basically gave up no picks?
