I don’t know, watching the videos he didn’t seem particularly enthused with any of the players- definitely wouldn’t say he was gushing about Mitch or RJ. The thing I took was, he’s just getting the lay of the land and is in evaluation mode. The bit that stood out was when he said obviously he only has input on the roster but Rose wouldn’t necessarily do what he wanted all the time.

I'm good without the "offseason" puff piece raves about DSJ's new work ethic or Frank's three point improvement. I'm pulling for both of them and am even quite hopeful with Frank, but just bring it to the court.

Wonder if he means the new developments staff we saw rumored a few weeks ago, or if we’re adding more proper assistant coaches and are just waiting for the coaching carousel to settle before we see which assistant coaches are available

I don't know how those 2 things would be different?

This is the real intrigue and story of the workouts:

Nalod @ 9/26/2020 3:12 PM
what’s in the bag? Frank bought an extra Groin to practice.

It's his jumpshot. Thibs off-season project for Frank was to take a fake jumpshot home and care for it like it was a real. The goal is for Frank to bond and care for his real J when the season starts. Thibs is doing the same thing with DSJ using a plastic brain.

I don't know how those 2 things would be different?

I’m presuming assistant coaches are more courtside and involved in plays etc, whereas training staff are more behind the scenes and outside of games (could be wrong)

That's what I think also. I guess this seals the fate for Mike Miller as he would have been announced already as an assistant coach especially since he is under contract or is he hoping to get a better position in other coaching vaccanies.

Unless Mike Miller was who Thibs was referring to when he said they had to be patient and wait for some stuff be be sorted out (Maybe Mike's seeing if he can get a bigger job role elsewhere first, and if he can't he'll be back as a lowly assistant)

If Rivers is on the outs in LA, I hope Miller gets an interview. Otherwise, I agree. If Miller cant land a head coaching gig, hope he's on the bench in NY. Thibs might be able to put in a good word for him, down the road.

The Clippers have championship aspirations. I doubt they fire Rivers, but even if they did, no way do I see them hiring Miller, a guy who only coached half a season and has zero playoff experience. I think he will land on his feet as an assistant coach somewhere.

As inconsistent as he's been with us, he excelled when he was able to get into the paint and teammates were knowing down shots. If you put him in a 4-out-1-in or a 5-out offense, with some knock down shooters that the defense has to respect, Smith can have a really good year. Its imperative that we draft and or sign some legit shooters. If we remain at 8, Vassell has to be near or at the top of the list.

He's been a coach for a long time. Not some kid. Got more out of the vets than Fizdale. Morris was playing like an all-star with Miller as coach. He's on the Clips now.

Miller should at least be on teams' radars. Fizdale was a "hot" name when the Knicks hired him (obviously not now) -- an experienced coach with some success. Miller took the team Fizdale had left in a dog poop baggie and brought them to a competitive semi-respectability that was curving upward when this chaos happened. No small feat.

LOL I'm a big Mike Miller fan, but the clippers won't fire doc and hire Miller because he made Morris look like an all star and made the knicks play much better, but below 500 ball.

The best he can get is an associate head coach position or the 2nd main assistant. With the knicks I think if thibs is gonna get more assistants it will be the ones he has worked with and the best he can give Miller is the one at the back row, which might be a disrespect to him.

I've said it in previous threads, hopefully he becomes our g league coach again given the knicks plan to use that more now.
