Knicks · Stay with C Woods in free agency (page 1)

Closest thing to A Davis on market.

LOL gotta hand it to you. You have been asking for C.Wood for about 4-5 yrs.

There’s honest big time upside w Woods. We have the coaching in place. Go for the higher end players w talent

I also think he would be a solid pick up, but to preserve cap i would seek a S&T possible using Portis as oppose to just signing him as a FA.

Unless we select a stretch four (doubtful)- I agree that C.Woods is someone to consider signing. The talent, age and needs are all there - but I would want to interview him before signing on the dotted line as he's had a challenging past (that hopefully is behind him). Have him sit with Dolan for 10 minutes and then Thibs for 20 minutes before they pull the contracts out... If he tells Thibs that Dolan is an idiot - we're good to go and he gets a signing bonus.

Portis is getting cut

With Robinson and Woods on the court at same time would shut down opponents interior offense — allows guys like frank barrett to play over 3 point line
We’d be one of the bettter defensive teams and in the o a high efficiency interior team Draft two 3 point shooters and all of a sudden u have a team
BRIGGS @ 10/2/2020 8:55 AM
We always do stupid player acquisituons. Yes I think we’re gonna get chris paul and anthony — and we’re still gonna sck

You really think having two slow ass big man on the court at the same time in a space and pace era of basketball is a good thing.

Let also not forget that Woods put up lofty #s in his last 18 or so games(3-15), In the last 14 games the pistons went 1-13 while woods avg 24ppg and 9rbs in that span.

While I agree with the ideals. Woods isn't particularly strong defensively. Not enough to have the type of defense you are envisioning. And while he put up strong offensive production it was only for a hand full of games.

I think he has good potential as well. But what is the asking price?

He made less than 2 mill this season, so it can be that much higher

franco12 @ 10/2/2020 12:43 PM
I don't understand the love affair that you have Briggs.

One of the earlier posts you made - probably why you need to create new ones - someone had posted something about how his shooting wasn't actually that good - that his 3pt shooting was largely just open shots vs any kind of contesting vs his shot - and that he would likely not exhibit the same stats over a full season in a starter role.

I can't find, but recall reading it and remain wholly convinced that the worse thing we can do is fill a hole we don't have with another PF. We have Randle who shot well from outside in the last games of the season when our squad finally started to gel.

We have Portis on the hook if you need another PF. Sure, he's a knuckledhead, but he had his moments.

Our greatest need is PG and it may be lunacy but sign FVV for $120M 4 years - max out his deal, and then go into the season with 1 giant question mark less.

Adding another PF/C does nothing to help us open up the offense.

Adding Wood does not help our 3pt shooting. Does not get anyone open looks.

This would be the worst use of our cap space.

WHO is running the offense Briggs?

Dude I'm not saying this is super accurate cause it absolutely is not, but it does give a general idea of a players attributes.

Just look around the league, what teams has two big men in there front court, this isn't the Ewing/Shaq/Hakeem era

I personally wouldn't do it, one would start, the other would come ff the bench.

Agree with this. Also feel it is hard to say if last year was the beginning of a break out career or a fluke. Maybe a good idea to go after a free agent that has had a bigger sample size of success. I think a guy like Dragic would be more impactful. Also like Bogdanovic for his shooting. And we all know we need shooting. But again, agree with the premise that it all depends on price. And how that compares to other options that may be open to coming here.

Those ranking get adjusted all the time. Use your eyes. Mitch is not slower than Dwight.
