He's a steal in the 2nd round, but I wouldn't call 27 way too high. He came into Kentucky as a 5 star PG recruit, and he didn't get much opportunity on the ball, but he's 6'3 with a 6'10 wingspan so he should be able to play 2 positions. He also shot lights out from 3pt and the FT line and put up good numbers as a soph. He's a 2-way combo guard who is probably a top-5 shooter in this draft.
Good shooter and good on-ball defender, but he has a lot improving to do before he can become a primary ball handler. Plus, his frame kinda limits who he can defend at two-spot. There will be prospects with higher upsides at #27. "Way too high" is probably an overstatement on my part, but I think it's still a bit of reach. Now, that pick wouldn't bother me as much if the Knicks got another second-rounder. That would give them more leeway in terms of gambling on a pick or two.

He came into Kentucky as a 5 star PG and was relegated to an off ball role like many other underutilized guards at Kentucky. He was SEC player of the year and shot 43% from 3pt on over 2 makes a game and 92% from the free throw line. He’s 6’3 with a 6’10 wingspan giving him versatility to guard both guard positions. He’s really a good modern day PG prospect with the length and shooting. He lacks athleticism but doesn’t have any other glaring weaknesses. I’m sure Payne has a good handle on him coaching him for 2 years but Cal has been very vocal about how he was one of his favorite players and compared him to Jamal Murray. Knicks have interviewed with him multiple times and given his shooting and Kentucky connection he seems like a logical bet to end up being drafted here.
I think he goes before 27 but yeah Id pick him too

27. Woodard, bey, tilie, McDaniel
38. Quickley
( above has potential offensively and defensively with defined skill sets)
Or
10. Kira or terry and oubre ( trade oubre late in the season)
27. Woodard McDaniel tillie bey
38. Trade 38 and 27 to get the exact player you want 23-60 pick
In the mid range Saddiq bey nesmith riller are of interest but this required trading down and raiding the mid level picks as priority.
It’s a deep draft. Tyler Bey is another guy I want at 27
Yea I just added him also. In a week or two I guess I’ll have my final list.
Bey Kira RJ and Mitch in transition would be great.
Also bey would give us what vassel could give us defensively. He still needs to find a shot though that’s all.
So if you swap bey for kira Hayes or a maxey. You would need to look more into a shooter at 38. Bane Quickly joe
Kira seems to have legit legs as the 8th pick. Seems like Detroit at 7 and Phoenix at 10 both like him too, so he range is probably now 7-14. Knicks have to like him because he can push the pace, play off the ball with his above average catch and shoot ability, particularly with the corner threes. He was getting hot later in the year, which would imply his numbers would have been even better last year if the season wasn't cancelled. If we go with him at 8, then grab a shooter at 27 (Bane, Joe, or Quickley) and go with an athletic big at 38 (Bey, Reed, or Tillman.) We would address 3 big needs with 3 picks. A quality PG prospect who can play on or off the ball, a SG that can really shoot, and a versatile athletic big. None of these players will likely be stars, but we can build up with elite role players and take big steps in the rebuilding process.
I would like to get another cheap center on the roster in case Mitch drops. With the devaluation of bigs we could get a rotation player cheap
