It might not translate into a winning season coz development is still a priority. What roster can you make with the most potential say after 5 years if they stick with that line up more or less.
I’ve played it. Never good results.
I was able to get Lamelo, Edwards, Deni, Wiseman but the wins still never exceeded 35. I was able to get some interesting rookie hauls. For our free agents, i let go everyone except for Dot. The simulator doesn't look at the intangibles like player improvement as well as the effect of the new coaching staff. Its still a fun exercise
I got 33 wins! Which would be amazing if we could do!
I just read the post article on the season starting and how that will screw over teams like the Knicks that might be turning over the roster and coaching staff.
I think it does behoove us to retain some folks that built up chemistry.
I might even say we should keep Payton, as much as that pains me- unless and even if FVV is walking through the door, he would be a complete unknown to the team, the system.
As much as I want to win, its sometimes important to understand “How we get there” really is important.
We can starphuch our way in which limits the ceiling and sustainability.
Keep building from yoot might never get you there.
So the delicate balance of increasing opportunity to increase “Luck” and employing veteran leader ship (not just about having vets, they have to be good communicators and a desire to mentor!) to balance out the growth.
Dolan invested a lot of money in a new FO. Not gonna rack my brain trying to out think this group. My hope is always that they can are us proud again. “Winning” is a destination and the fun is a journey of progress to get there.
I love this simulator but they need to add more FA’s. Also an option to trade up in the draft. I wish they could do trade for players but I know that would be a lot to add.

I saw that article and had to laugh. Every season ends up screwing the Knicks because the Knicks are always turning over their roster and/or staff. Getting a couple more preseason games in won't make a difference.
My simulator experience capped at 38 wins. Seems plausible.

If the NBA is going to start around Christmas time, and play 72 games and have the finals in June- like it seems they want and intend- then older, high mileage players like Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony are going to be on some combination of minutes restriction, skipping back to backs and the like, and spending a lot of time on the injured list with any number of nagging old athlete injuries.
I think that the shortened season makes the most sense to go after young players like a FVV who doesn't rely on athleticism like other players might.

Going after FVV just for year one makes little sense as well. I love the guy but giving him a big contract would automatically make him our top player. Not sure zI would give him so much money.

The NBA was off for 4 months, roughly and entire off season(june to oct), 8 teams have been off for almost 8 months, another 8 teams came back to play 8 games in August, (after a 4 month lay off). Most of the teams that made the playoffs and didn't make it pass the 2nd round played a total of 12- 20 games (after a 4 month lay off) The Lakers (who won it all) played 15 playoff games to win it, and add in the 7 or 8 games in august making it a total of 23 games (after a 4 month lay off).
Take into account there was zero traveling, and maybe 1 or 2 back to backs..

What has training camp ever done for us, Mills signed 6 guys in 48 hrs last season, not to mention we have a new roster every season for the last 7 season, we still come out of the gate looking lost.
Its a weak draft, and a weak FA class, and we had 8 months to study every possible FA, every possible draft pick, and every possible trade. Just because you can't publicly stated, doesn't mean talks having been going on behind closed doors, and the NBA knows that.
I do think they need to move the draft up a week

And all teams will have equal time. We all read established teams will fair better. We are not.

You said in another post “New regime won’t go with same roster”. Its actually a good thought. Broaden that out and consider that everything is on the table regarding the roster. There will be another purge before we start building on it.
