It'll be funny to see how the media cover the Nets- they all couldn't wait to continue their onlslaught of deferential coverage, and use their rise to trash the Knicks at every opportunity, but now Kyrie has publicly declared them pawns who aren't worth of him, it'll be embarrassing to watch them heap praise on players that think they're so contemptable- must be very conflicting for them

Kyrie is a trip. He is cut from the “Rodman-Artest-quirky” talented cloth. I love watching him play to be quite frank. Its a rare ability to move like that and for most PG’s its just gone by age 30. As for what comes out of his mouth? Thats a whole other game.

Thing is, I really liked Artest and Rodman, where as I don’t like Kyrie- never got the impression Artest and Rodman thought they were better than other people, whereas Kyrie does have the air of an aristocrat or something, or some sort of pretentious ‘artist’- I struggle with humorless people like that

How can you not consider Kyrie an artist after watching "Uncle Drew." Kyrie is like Christian Bale. Maybe not he's not the most likeable person, but it's that willingness to drown deep into the darkest recesses of his soul to bring out his art... Or maybe they're just @$$holes. I dunno. The Knicks got 99 problems, but at least Kyrie ain't one.

I always respected Rodman and Artests game. But if you think about it Dennis at the time of his antics was “controversial” and we did not understand him. He came off very selfish and if you put yourself above others then inflated self importance is symptomatic. Artest could not control his emotions and was a tech machine, brawler, and the migraines at playoff time very unfortunate for his team. They could not count on him.
He could not keep it together and thats selfish.
Over time we come to understand both of them, their problems, and their personalities. The body of their work and hindsight gives us perspective. Ron was very likable once he opened up. He was off his rocker but “lovable”.
Kyrie has massively inflated ego and is an asshole. The ego thing is nothing new. Lots of great ones have it. Iversion and Kobe were not easy prior to age 30 but they kept it on the court. Kyrie seems to think his relevance transcends beyond the court. It does not. LIke Dennis and Ron I see a personality disorder and maybe some bipolar. Kyrie seems to cry out that was should treat his fragile humanity with more respect. That comes off really bad as if he is mistreated, and thus why we see him as self Elite. Kyrie is a very talented player first and foremost. He seems to be crying out for help or acceptance as an artist who needs sympathy.

Getting Jrue Holiday is not a minor move. And drafting and trading and using MLE are 3 ways to improve. Milwaukee has their 2021 first round and second round picks.
Even if Giannis' salary was $10M dollar less, how would that change anything except luxury tax and perhaps hard cap?
i think this is the last year of the bucks window to make the finals. jrue is a UFA and for what they gave up to get him, he's gonna get $25-30 mil a year also so they are tied into the jrue + midds + giannis trio with basically zero avenue to get help. they are quite thin on the bench now too. of course that goes out with window if giannis can actually be a true #1 playoff option and score iso down the stretch of games - then they can win chips a few times...but i'm not holding my breath on that one.
when you consider the type of player those multiple #1's/swaps netted, jrue is probably the worst of that bunch. george, cp3, westbrook - these guys were all nba type players - jrue is a borderline all star and imho, not that huge an upgrade over bledsoe but time will tell.

but bledsoe was no chump. i think he actually had comparable defensive stats to Jrue (who i like; i just think Bledsoe is underrated). then didn't they just trade a bunch of picks too.
you may be rigth on the money. i have seen situations where teams load up before supermaxing knowing they'll be in hell afterwards. did not get that sense from Giannis. and they may not have had good options. I also suspect the idea of KP floats out there -- players don't want to wait to help the team
this is very much not a big 3 or big 2 line up. more like alpha and 1b or 1c with Jrue. a very vulnerable line up in my estimation especially as it gets to playoffs and good/smart teams pull a Belichek and say stop/slow Giannis. i was not surprised by this last playoffs.
so even without a mathematical proof i'll return to the notion of greed is bad. How much money is enough? and there a huge tension saying you want to win in a capped league and then wanting 40+ million for yourself. You better be worth 50 or 60 in that case.

good point and bledsoe was no chump. i thought it was a huge gamble even when they had bogdanovoch. they were still largely vulnerable as they were last year. either Giannis gets hurt, slowed or confused and that crash in and kick out has trouble in a series against a good team
sure they'd kick our ass even if we were allowed a 6th guy on the court, but we're talking smart teams like raptors, celts, miami

LOL...I knew this was coming....I watched the entire 4th quarter. He looked pretty good. Knocked down a few open looks like we all knew he could do. Played with good poise as well. However, he scored 12 of his 16 against a mix of end of the bench players and a few that will not make an NBA roster. Also, he looks very small on the court.
BTW, Maxey looked good as well. Hit a couple of floaters in the lane and made a really nice reverse lay in over one of their bigs..But, similar to Pritchard, most of his damage came in the 4th...Its a good start for both of them...
