I'm reading that they didn't really want anyone other than Vernon Carey. So I think this may have just been away to get another pick when they might want someone, as opposed to just taking a flyer on someone just to cut them after the year is up
understood. but i can't believe that was the best we could do then. That's a very valuable slot with all sorts of NBA players being found in that vicinity. So even if they wanted out, very surprised if the 2023 of unknown slot is the best they could do. i don't know the rules of what needs to be announced on draft night but based on logic i have to imagine there's more to this story
Yes we have a lot of role players and draft picks to make a trade.

Im getting the feeling Frank is gone. Now that we have Quickley. Doubt Rose will want to give him a long term deal. Believe the jury is still out on DSJr for a new deal. Has to make a big statement with his game
Quickley got to the line 4.8 times per game which was more than Maxey surprisingly. He may be an advanced stats stud when all said and done. 6’8 wing span and defense. Sharp shooting and knack for the FT line?

Also, had one of the best percentages on floaters inside the paint in the NCAA. And he did it during an extended stretch against real competition, unlike another SEC shooter people are crying over. He was also one of the best iso defenders in the country. I don't think Quickley ceiling is that high, but he's one of the safest shooters in the draft.

They likely moved it because they figure there will be no dleague this year and development may be stalled for some of these 2nd round guys. They clearly targeted Toppin and Quickley specifically as 2 experienced college players with transferrable skills that will instantly make them rotation players. I wish they could have received a pick sooner than 2023 or received a pair of 2nd round picks, but it is what it is.

Yeah, the double draft is being speculated for 2023. That's why you'll see a number of teams targeting that date in future deals.
Could Quickley be the knicks future starting PG? Calapari said the knick have something special in Quickley. Obviously its done to promote Kentucky basketball but what if he turns out to be special? Maybe all we need now is a stopgap point guard like DJ Agustin for a couple of years. A point guard rotation of Quickley and Frank would be nice specially if frank can consistently hit his shots soon.

Quickly doesn't seem that dynamic with the ball. He probably a secondary or tertiary
Bball handler right now. But who knows how he'll develop going forward?

I would say his ceiling is all based on how much he improves his ability to create with the ball. And you just never know. But I’ll take that foundation of shooting, fts, wingspan and defense all day.

I think that's it exactly...They may have had intel on Maxey slipping in the draft and thought they could scoop him. Once he was gone, they targeted Quickley. 33 seemed like a waste. I guess they didn't want to use a roster spot on a second rounder...
