Knicks · Point Guard? (page 1)

Okay the draft is behind us now and notwithstanding Quickley who we're told is a combo guard, we did not get our PG of the future. (Personally I wanted Halliburton at 8 then Hampton at 23 but now we'll see.) Going forward what are our options? Frank or DSJ? Some talk of RJ. Payton? "Positionless" basketball? In free agency Van Vleet (undrafted btw) is the big topic. What does it take? $120 million/4 years? Who else? Trade?

Personally I'm willing to piece it together until next year though Van Fleet I would be good with even if we overpay (which would be the case). What other ideas are there? We need our quarterback.

For me this is Part II on how we can evaluate and get some insight into what the front office is thinking.

Stick with Frank and DSJr and pump their volumes a bit but have low expectations of either?

Terry Rozier for Randle?

Russ Westbrook?

FVV?

Looks like Payton was cut though maybe he comes back at lower salary. Seems to me they are clearing the salary deck to overpay FVV. Couldn't really argue with that.

I'd be happy with FVV or Goran. Ok with Conley - after that, not sure there is much to be excited about as FAs

I think we have a nice number of pieces that getting a veteran, capable PG is absolutely essential to building the team. Whether we compete for the final slot or not, we need someone to come in and help organize the offense.

Their ranking:
1. Fred Van Vleet
2. Goran Dragic
3. Mike Conley
4. Jeff Teague
5. D.J. Augustin

I'm guessing we either trade for Rozier or Westbrook, or sign either VanVleet or Augustin. Augustin being more of a stopgap of course. Next summer we likely draft our PG of the future and sign Mike Conley (who is CAA) or keep Augustin as a mentor.
