Knicks · Knicks media day interviews. There are some pretty decent comments. (page 2)
EwingsGlass wrote:newyorknewyork wrote:EwingsGlass wrote:I don’t really know why people think the Knicks will be worse this year than last. I agree their roster has some holes. Best argument is that they didn’t replace Marcus Morris. Some merit that.Thibs is probably a better coach than Fiz + Miller. Hard to gauge this
Elf = Elf. Question is still whether he is healthy.
Noel > Gibson. Should be a stronger defensive presence and offensive presence.
Randle + Payne is probably a better version of Randle - Payne.
A healthy Bullock will basically be replacing Harkless. Probably a push there.
Burks > Ellington by all metrics.
Toppin vs Portis is a vet/rookie argument. Toppin has more upside and the benefit of having some outside shooting. I wanna call this an improvement.
I love Quickley’s shooting. I think it will complement our players.
Rivers vs Dotson is a bit of a push. I have nothing bad to say about Dotson. Never understood why he didn’t get more burn.Fact is, the rest of the roster should improve based on the amount and quality of coaching the Knicks brought it. Johnnie Bryant should have a real positive effect on our guards. Payne should have a great affect on the big guys. Mike Woodson is an amazing defensive coach. They are pairing vets and coaches with younger players. They have strong team guys. They really could use some more 3pt shooting, but all in all, I think this team will be a year older and a year better.
I def thought the loss of Morris would make us a worse team. But you make some valid points. Fiz was the worst coach I have ever seen. But at the same time the East as a whole has gotten a lot better. So the competition is going to be a lot more fierce. All we can ask for is development from our young players. That's the only way to right this ship. Which Fiz has set us back with his terrible coaching.
Fair point about other teams. I didn’t consider that. My argument of better is for like 27-34 wins vs 21 last year. That marginal increase doesn’t make them a contender so much as make them better than last year. But that’s all we are looking for with a young team. Incremental growth.
In the east, Hawks improved. I’d expect them to swap records with the Thunder. They look like a playoff team. Boston always seems to manage but they are arguably worse having lost Hayward and Kemba being DL’d. Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland are marginally different. Charlotte should be improved. Bucks are arguably worse - still elite though. They gave up their floor spacing to add Jrue Holiday. The deal makes no sense without Bojan. A healthy Nets are elite, top tier. Philly is better. They added the floor spacing they needed and subtracted their weaknesses. Wizards are perhaps a year healthier, getting Wall back is an improvement.
If I am wrong on improved, teams like the Suns and the Trailblazers had losing records last year... it’s hard to qualify the Knicks as a 35 win team like Lillard’s trailblazers were a 35 win team or Booker’s suns. We don’t have the same talent levels, yet.
Knicks can still be an improved team statistically with improvement from the young players. But still not show it in the record. Knick put up 44.7%FG, 33.7%3PT, 69.4%FT, 22.1/14.3 ast/to per game, 22.2 fouls. Knicks allowed 46.3%FG, 38.1%3PT, 24.3/13.7 ast/to per game, 19.8fouls. So if the record isn't great but we improved fairly well in all these areas then we would take that.

Just based on that its logical to say at least from how i see it, Frank should be able to find some court time. Even though he hasnt scored well the past couple of years he has one of the highest plus/minus in the team. When frank was on the floor, if the team is down he make the team more competitive.i do hope he can finally show us what he can do on both ends of f the court.
When Obi is on the court you need him there with Frank and Mitch to cover up his defensive liabilities
Obi will be a high volume scorer from the get go. We also signed some decent shooters to play the 2 (Rivers, MKG, Burks)

lol..who the hell has frank stopped or even slowed down, and Mitch will be in foul trouble within minutes of PT
The best thing we have going is that Thibs will go with the guy who earned the minutes, and im sure it won't be a one dimensional, one trick pony. I only care about who's playing at a high level consistently, if thats frank and mitch, so be it
Why are you so concern about selective players as oppose to the entire team playing winning basketball.
If obi is playing turnstile defense..BENCH his ass, and that goes for any player, I NEED MAX EFFORT ON BOTH ENDs.
Tired of seeing frank walk the ball up court, then finding a seat next to spike, or standing behind the ref in the corner, or not doing what is ask of him.

I know frank is one of you favorite knick players of all time, so i'll be a little more sensitive.
But lets be honest, so many guards lit us up like a christmas tree with frank guarding them, and you know it's true.
kember, coby, claxton, irving, lavine, mannn it was so many guards that had career/season highs against frank and the knicks last season, so i just don't see him as no bruce bowen, ron artest, gary payton type of defense player that some on here think he is.
For me, if you're going to be a complete liability on one end of the floor, you better be one of the best in the league on other end.

He's not, you need to be a bit more smart and realistic about what you are saying. If you want to post fantasy nonsense, there are other forums to do that on.
The NBA is a guard and wing league where you can't touch guys on the perimeter. EVERY guy in the NBA can be lit up on any night, there is no denying that. Saying that Frank has not slowed down or stopped anyone is just nonsense. If this is the hill you want to die on, so be it.

Frank is top 100 in the nba in defensive +/- despite not being in the rotation much of last year because the two idiots Fizdale and Perry hate him and love Dennis the ball hog who can’t shoot
Obi is going to be our most dynamic offensive player since Carmelo. You can’t bench him.

I don't have to make a anything up, Listen to what Alan said about what coaches think of Frank
The dude walks the ball up court hands it off at the logo, now the play is dead...Can't trust him period
Youu can't score 20 points once every 150+ games and think your going to get minutes because you had few deflections and made a couple stops..
That dude needs to step his game up (for the good of the franchise and himself) or fckn kick rocks
Lets hope for his sake he plays like his Financial future and career is on the line, because it is.

Even though he hasnt scored well the past couple of years he has one of the highest plus/minus in the team. Obi will be a high volume scorer from the get go. We also signed some decent shooters to play the 2 (Rivers, MKG, Burks)
lol..who the hell has frank stopped or even slowed down, and Mitch will be in foul trouble within minutes of PTThe best thing we have going is that Thibs will go with the guy who earned the minutes, and im sure it won't be a one dimensional, one trick pony.
Tired of seeing frank walk the ball up court, then finding a seat next to spike, or standing behind the ref in the corner, or not doing what is ask of him.
knicks1248, don't be that poster. If you want to deny reality and be an asshole, you can do it elsewhere. Your shtick is getting old
I know frank is one of you favorite knick players of all time, so i'll be a little more sensitive.
-Kemba's season high was against Milwaukee (followed by Brooklyn and others)
-Coby White's season high was against OKC - followed closely by Phoenix and Washington
-Not sure if you meant Nick Claxton from Brooklyn, but he had a bunch of DNP's but did manage to score 4 points against the Knicks in one game
-Irving barely played last year - his season high was against Chicago (54 points) and Min (50 points)
-Lavine's best games were against Charlotte, Cleveland and Indy (his best scoring game against the Knicks was ranked 26th)
-Mann?? (Terrance Mann did not play against the Knicks last season)
It's hard to imagine that a volume "ball/hogging" type poster like you on a Knicks forum appears to not even watch the Knicks games and much of the stuff you post here is a bunch of BS. We all get enough lies from our President every day. I come to this site for enjoyment/banter and to read up from people more knowledgeable or "in the know" than me, but having to fact check all of your lies just drags it down.Don’t bother knicks1248 with facts. He’s busy recycling soundbytes from Stephen A Smif and the other loudmouth know nothing idiot Max Kellerman

Tell me something I haven't heard since he got drafted, every coach says that about frank.
Every young player in this league has potential to be very good if they put in the work (thats a generic statement) but also has to embrace his role, Ntilikina has yet to do that, there for he has no role, that's why every yr and every coach is still trying to figure out what to do with him...and in the process they get fired.
STOP MAKING EXCUSES for him, it's everybody's fault but frank...GTFOH with that..
