Knicks · Toppin/Randle Front Court (page 1)

I wonder if Mitch may be losing some momentum within the organization. I feels like Randle is viewed highly and Toppin is the future in the front court. Randle will get resigned on a short term deal most likely. Without Mitch, Obi becomes the rim runner with space to operate and the lack of defense is offset by a strong rebounding group and Noel seeing a lot of minutes when stronger defense is needed. Maybe this is just tough love on mitch, but it feels like this team will be loyal to “their guys” and the rotation will be positioned that way.

Its all fake news. Mitch is just fine and not going anywhere. Unless its for a big star. People put way too much into if he is starting. Mitch had a good year and still has a lot to improve. Think biggest issue starting is not his level of play but his inability to stay out of foul trouble. As for Randle and Toppin. Don not think Toppin starting matters. Some seem way too focused on it. Focus should be on him developing. This roster is far from competing from anything significant to worry about what the lineups are. Imo. Think the focus should be on developing all our young players and adding better talent. At least early in the season. Just do not think anyone here really say that they know who will be playing well. Let alone who should play together?

I wouldn’t read too much into anything. These guys haven’t had a full camp together. The younger players gotta learn the defense. The rookies need to get NBA ready (more than just conditioning).

I only take that they believe this lineup matches up the best against the Pistons after 10 days of camp.

There’s just something strange considering how Thibs talks about Mitch. I’m sure they want him to succeed here, but maybe this is something to do with his contract situation too. It’s easier to negotiate a lower contract if he’s coming off the bench.

Thibs has always preferred vets. Think he has praised Mitch but still knows he has a lot to learn.

They want to build up Randle's value as a trade asset. They got a pick for Morris last year and are looking to do the same thing

Decent strategy. And as bad a 3pt shooter as Randle is Mitch has never even attempted a 3pt shot
