Knicks · Give Quigley(sp) a locked 24 min (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 12/14/2020 9:33 AM
Tell me exactly what we have to lose? We went out and got him— assert his position and let him go. I’d almost start him at pg— I don’t care
smackeddog @ 12/14/2020 1:57 PM
We need to cut this Quigley to make room for Quickley, give him Quigley's minutes.

We need shooting, he's one of the only players we have who can shoot, why not play him.

Nalod @ 12/14/2020 2:07 PM
“What do we have to lose”.......said Briggs about trump in 2016.
2nd game and we all despondent already?
ITs gonna be al one season if Briggs gonna post every synapse. Dude, Join a conversation. Read a conversation.

So a kid that "played PG in HS" should get a look at being a PG in his first year in the NBA? What's the reasoning? Rather stick to the 3 average PGs with some experience. Why screw up a kids development for some wild goose chase. He is a good shooter and should be put in the best position to succeed and that is SG. It is also a terrible message to the the PGs you may have to go with. Thibs: "Hey, I know I said I am trying to develop you guys but since you played a bad second pre season game, I am going to have to go with the kid that has not played PG since HS". I mean that would not come off as panicking.

Nope he’s a pg just a hybrid. In the nba get the ball up the court find the open man and hit the three. No doubt I play him at pg. I mean next game. If he can shoot at 6-3 his best position is point.

BRIGGS @ 12/14/2020 6:33 PM
Next game line up

C Obi Toppin
G Alec Burks
G Frank Ntlikina
G R J Barrett
G Immanuel Quickley
6 th man Julius Randle
C Mitch Robinson
G Austin Rivers( who will eventually start)
G E Payton

Coleen Quigley is awesome. Deserves at least 24 mins.

Take a quick breath and repeat these words: It is preseason.
Thibs has been around the block. He knows what he's doing.

I like Quickley and think that he could be our future pg but I think that this year’s focus should be on him just acting as a shooter off the bench. We first need to figure out our mess with Frank and DSJr before we add another pg to the mix as the future. Quickley likely will not get more than 10-12 minutes a game this year unless he proves to be a Steph Curry type shooter. Let him work towards learning the pg position for a year in practice before we force him into that role.
Allanfan20 @ 12/14/2020 7:49 PM
Yeah, I would love to see 24 minutes of Quig.

It’ll be amazing if he could play like Seth Curry...

TPercy @ 12/14/2020 8:32 PM
I’d have to see something to believe that he can play PG.
Just play him in his best position and let him work from there

They are trying to find a way to trade Dennis Smith Jr.

Chandler @ 12/15/2020 12:23 AM

Lenny and Squigley from Laverne and Shirly -- sadly Squigley recently passed away.

kidding aside, Thibs is not locking minutes for anyone -- they have to be earned

Squiggy has played and can play point. that said, i think if he played point RJ would still run the offense

BRIGGS @ 12/15/2020 10:18 AM
He was a pg in hs and a good passer. All he has to do is bring the ball up find the open man and make his shots. The difference between him and the sht we have is he can shoot— that’s Important. Doesn’t have to start but give him the ball for 2-24 mi utes. He’s a good pg for Barrett cuz Barrett can’t shoot— none of the others guys can either
ccch @ 12/15/2020 10:47 AM
Can't believe he didn't get any minutes in Game 1. We need shooters and he's one of the few we have. Play him now.
TheGame @ 12/15/2020 2:17 PM
The funny thing is that Quickley has more gravity on the court than any of our other point guards even though he has yet to even take a 3pt shot in a game. As soon as he caught the ball, the Pistons were trying to run him off the three-point line. In fact, he was the only one they really seemed to try to run off the 3pt line. Now that is respect. This kid hasn’t even hit his first 3 and they are defending him like he is Steph Curry.
HofstraBBall @ 12/15/2020 7:41 PM
Sorry fellas. This is pure homerville. Just goes to show how bad the Knicks have become. The board is filled with unrealistic hope. Reminds me of Jet fans. Fact of the matter is that this kid should not have gone in the first round. Everyone here is also ignoring the fact Quickley has been seen by coaching staff EVERY day in practice. They know what he can do. This reminds me of every other Baker, Jimmer, Willy etc etc bullshit. How bout we give him some time to develop. There is no rush with Obi and Quickley. They are on rookie contracts and will be here for a while. So there is no urgency. Fact is the Knicks are doing the right thing. They need to invest time in Dennis, Knox and Frank. All who are on the brink of getting the boot. And that is not 2 pre season games. It is the only way to improve their value if the FO feels they are not part of the future. Or if they do not improve, cut ties with no regrets. Think that's the plan. Use the beginning of the year to evaluate what moves should be made by trade deadline or in the . We can start the "We Want Baker" chants at the end of the year when the young ones are doing most of the playing.

Fact is that we did not get a point in lower part of first (IQ) and in the second(traded)....why because of what you just mentioned about DSJ and Frank....also Thibs will probably ice skating in hell freezing over before he trots out a rookie pt....but then we have what happened on Sunday....us looking disorganized on offense, DSJ/Frank not doing much, and then you see other pts cooking Theo in OKC ...Flynn in Tor...Wall looks good..you know Russ is going get after it...and we are looking at Julius still brining up the ball spinning in traffic...

ALSO...you need to have a solid pt to maximize Obi skill set...I feel dejavu from the first Donny draft when pts were all over the board and we went with Hill...Donny f@caked up by not trading back into the first to pick up a pt....

Obi is not Hill...not saying that but we needed a pt.... that is what the draft had....did not get Lamelo...Kira...Hali....or the others....did they believe DSJ was going to turn the corner...

Rose has to recognize this and rectify....we need a pt to facilitate the game....And use the battering ram Julius properly...

Again with all this being said...this was just the second game and they looked decent game 1....also Thibs is not Fiz...so hopefully he ca n turn this chicken sh@t into chicken salad..
