Knicks · Has to be more than Randle leading the Break. (page 1)

Guess that why fiz wanted Randle to do more ball handling, the problem is some of the guys are not running with him, or spacing the floor properly, not to mention, can't always finish as we saw RJ misseda point blank layup off a feed from randle.
when you pass the ball and guys miss shots, or don't add to a hockey asst, you start to lose trust in your teammates.
A player going 1-7 from downtown doesn't encourage you to pass him the ball

Randle is telling the PGs with his play "lead or get out of the way". Of the two styles, fastbreak offense suits Smith jr., Knox, Toppin, better, among others.
I agree with prior criticism of Randle's game. Early, but so far he has been a positive influence. On and off the court. Mentoring Toppin. Randle trying to kick the PGs in the behind, so to speak. Motivate them to keep up with him. Making nice passes in transition. I hope our PGs get the message and push the tempo more the next game.
Watching a little bit of GSW last night. They were pushing the ball up the court with looong passes to the corners over dribbling up the court.
But something we can keep an eye on for tonight's game.
RJ vs Oroko

The PGs dont have to grab the rebound. Which would be nice. They have to be ready for the outlet pass, which they arent. Because they're too slow.
Thibs will get his props, so should Randle.
We don’t push the ball and we slow the pace. Its why we have great defenseive numbers. Its our tactic, our scheme, our “Schtick”. Frank does not go the corner and hide, he is sent there. Knick are not diva players defiant to their coach.
Julius Randle wrote:“I would say that maybe we’ve exceeded other people’s expectations,” Randle told Redick. “I think if you’d have just been around our group on a day-to-day basis, we just have a confidence and belief about us, and it starts with Thibs and everything he’s doing, but we just go about things the right way every day and building the right habits. So, we just have a confidence and a belief about us every game that we play that we’re going to win the game.
Julius Randle wrote:“I will say this about Thibs, he’s a tough coach if you don’t like to be coached or if you don’t like to play or do things the right way, then he’s tough,” Randle said. “Thibs is a guy that… just expects a certain level of professionalism, he expects you to do things the right way, be prepared and do things the right way on a day-to-day basis, and if you don’t want to do that, then it’s gonna be tough.“Honestly, man, he’s not as much of a hard--s as people think he is. The dude is super cool, like you can talk to him. He’s gonna kill me if he sees this, but he really is soft. You can talk to him. Thibs is dope. Honestly, he’s a players’ coach. This is the most fun that I’ve had as far as playing in the league, for sure.”
Sounds a lot like getting "coached up" to me.
I get it... some guys didnt want Thibs here and can still hear that drum they were beating. One of those same guys said Randle reminded them of "Al Harrington"
Things change. Perceptions change. Thats what makes it exciting.

I was praising Randle early on, so much for your theory. Im reading about the coach, and nothing about the player. Thats where we differ. Randle couldnt handle those minutes, play effectively, without the work he put in the offseason. On his health, and game.
Why are you so determined to brush that under the rug? Randle is being gracious. Why are you so intent on making Randle's success all about someone else?
Was very much against the Thibs hire because I was primarily concerned with his practice of running his players into the ground. Randle is near the top of the league. RJ was for a while as well. Im very pleased with the success early on. Hoping Rose gets him some help, some legit help. That would be something to brag about.

Simple fact is Randle was coached up and that is just one example of him talking about it how he was coached up. Need more? You hated the Thibs hire. Seems like you have some ongoing issue there, not sure what it is, dont care.
I have said nothing but how valuable Randle is here and I have said thoughts of trading him for pics etc are terrible. Randle has been fantastic is should be regarded as a cornerstone. Your "early praise" for Randle was again... after playing under Thibs.
Before this season you said this of Randle:
GustavBahler wrote:Randle reminds me of Al Harrington. Only had one gear, which got him frequently into trouble. Turnovers. When Randle plays under control, he's an effective scorer. Doesnt know when to stop the 1 on 3 drives to the rim.

What part of my aggreeing with 1248 upthread about prior criticism of Randle's game did you miss? Said it from the start. You've been praising Randle's results while giving credit to Thibs for the improvment. Thibs set a standard, Randle met it. One doesnt cancel out the other.
