They don't have likable stars. They would need a Steph/Klay stars and style of play and dynastic run to take the city. Quickley's preseason comeback win in preseason was trending 4th on Twitter the next day.

ESPN had those guys for a few years. Durant has been MVP and a top 5 player for a decade. Its not that they are hyping the nets NY, they hare hyping them as a national presence and its good for ratings. They hype the Bucks, Celtics, lakers, etc........They hype the stars.
Jay williams and richard jefferson have been there on espn for years but they take there shots at the knicks but they are very unprofessinial. Espn and tnt reporters always go to unprofessional takes about knicks and dolan they take it to far. I am glad knicks only have 1 game on espn this year i wish there wasn't any games because how unprofessional espn crew some of stuff is justified about the knicks. Jay williams and richard jefferson are friends with durant they always say bad stuff about the knicks. Espn hired nets beat reporter to cover the nets in malika andrews because nets had kd and irving so they could have special net news and no knicks news.

NYC loves a winner but it also likes a charismatic winner. Derek Jeter was a very likeable guy who women loved. Eli Manning was a goofy guy that fell into the giants lap on draft. Patrick Ewing was drafted by the knicks and embodied NY toughness. As did guys like Starks and Oak
KD is a primadonna d-ckwad and so is Kyrie.

Jay does fall into the lazy knick hating commentary trap and his meltdown over the Knicks not drafting Halliburton is at least understandable. But the Knicks did get Quick at 27 who will end up being a better PG.
Jay is a nice guy my friends used to play pickup games at Sonny Werblin gym at Rutgers he was very nice to everyone. Richard Jefferson is an arrogant douchebag he was on the Nets and he certainly is now

I think you guys overlook how tired people are of the constant loosing. If you're a kid in the Metro area, who are you going to look up to and root for?

Even as early as last year the buzz around the city was higher on the Nets side. Some of us somewhat older guys still remember "The Dunk. Ewing, Oak, Mase, Xman battling. H2Os roll in game winner. Problem is that No One under 30 really still does. Most are ignoring the cooler vibe coming out of Brooklyn. And now, they have two of the best Players in the NBA and a chance to bring an elusive chip to NYC. If we continue to suck, we are only strengthening the possibility. That's the reality. Although I really wanted KD and KI on the Knicks, I for one will always bleed the orange and blue. No matter how bad they are. But I was never one of those New Yorkers who hated on the other local team. Especially since I am a fan of good basketball. So I won't start now.

I was born in Brooklyn...Raised in Queens....But I will never say F the Bronx. And I will always be a Knicks fan....Been a fan for too long to turn my back now.
But if the Nets are playing another team, I rather see Brooklyn win that anybody else. After living in multiple states outside of NY, it's all the same to them.
I still don't since any harsh disputes between knicks and nets fans in NYC. It's like both fans understand their place, so it's not even an argument, just great bar discussions.
But if I was 12 yrs old, growing up in NYC....Of course I'm a Nets fan all day. It's almost embarrassing for a young kid or even an adult to rep the knicks, outside of NYC. So when I see that, I always give them props.

I was a yankees fan in the 80’s and early 90’s when they were bad and all the fair weather fans in NY were rooting for the Mets. I don’t care. I think the bandwagon mentality of the 80’s and 90’s died down there are too many media choices now. People aren’t switching teams to go root for the bulls and cowboys like they did in the 90’s
