Knicks · Are we starting off 1-11? (page 1)

Philc1 @ 12/27/2020 6:37 AM
I’m looking at this schedule and that plus this dysfunctional organization’s insistence on starting Elfrid Payton every game I don’t see how this isn’t a 1-11 team after 12 games.

Does this finally force Thibs to bench Elf and Randle and actually play the kids?

franco12 @ 12/27/2020 7:18 AM
good thing we play the cavaliers!

Why would we bench Randle? And Payton sadly is our best pg at this point. Has nothing to do with Thibs, this is now Leon Rose's problems. He is the one who went into the off season knowing PG was our biggest area of weakness and doing nearly nothing to address it.

In fact, bringing back payton is almost worse than doing nothing!

Allanfan20 @ 12/27/2020 8:16 AM
Why on Earth would and should he bench Randle in favor of “letting the kids play?”

Exactly what good is that going to do us right now besides allowing us to go winless?

StarksEwing1 @ 12/27/2020 8:27 AM
Why would we bench Randle? Randle not the issue right now plus Toppin is going to be out for a little bit anyway. Also I think their plan with Randle is similar to what we did with Marcus Morris by getting some assets at the deadline
newyorknewyork @ 12/27/2020 8:37 AM
Randle played close to a perfect half and a great game last game. He made good decisions with the ball for the most part.

Absolutely. I’ve been very happy with Randle. Even if he isn’t in future plans he will be a attractive trade piece at the deadline
Knixkik @ 12/27/2020 9:11 AM
Randle will be relied on. Payton will have to be benched for quickley. Knicks should look better at that point but still won’t be good. Which is ok with this top 5 draft.
blkexec @ 12/27/2020 9:37 AM
Different players....different season.....different management.....same old knicks. I dont know what they have in that locker room at the garden. But they need to fix this 2nd half issues.maybe take is easy the 1st half. 2nd half go all out. But we gotta do something different.
SupremeCommander @ 12/27/2020 9:45 AM
Anyone knocking Randle right now clearly doesn’t understand hoops
Nalod @ 12/27/2020 9:59 AM
Cavs have Love now. I would not count on a victory.
When you look at any predictions that have us losing TWICE as much as winning and you think its media hate, then watch the games what are some of you missing?

If I’m being honest this is an issue that reflects our teams talent. In both games the others teams better players who are struggling typically find form.

nyknickzingis @ 12/27/2020 10:20 AM
The issue with the Knicks is talent.
They simply do not have the talent needed to be a playoff level or competitive team.

When they last were competitive, they had someone like Porzingis as a 23 points a night all-star.
When they were a playoff team last, Melo was in his prime giving the team near superstar production at 27+ points a night.

They can change all the coaching staffs they want, but they need a star player they can build the team around. In the meanwhile just have to wait for the pieces of that puzzle to fall in place. And when they do, better hope it is a star that has prime (peak) years ahead of him.

Thibs may help some, hurt some. The young talent is decent, but none of them are going to be superstars. So you have to wait until CAA make a move for a star player that is capable to lead a team. It does hurt that despite having so many lottery drafts, and opportunities to trade star players like Melo, Porzingis, the Knicks never seem to luck into a young all-star level draft pick that can lead the team.

How do you feel about Frank?

martin @ 12/27/2020 1:27 PM
I dont even care about the record and do hope to see progress with zero wins. Is it the record we care about or progress?

Randle is better
Mitch has not progressed but his picks are a little better
It's awful we don't see Obi and Quickley and Rivers
Knox seems more locked in and feel like he needs to stop hyperventilating and let the game come to him; seems like he is in hyper video game mode and he is better, can't tell how much.
DSJr is a shell of a shell of his former athletic self, he is done unless we just aren't seeing something
Burks looks good
Noel man, get a 10-15 foot jump shot and just let it go when no one is around you
Barrett can't get by a player and probably still needs a PG to help him out but he'll be fine
WTF Frank, you can't beat out DJ and Elfrid?
I am loving the coaching staff and how Thibbs is operating. Up 10-7 and kind of on a roll early in the game and he furiously calls a time out cause guys didn't hustle back on D and let Ben Simmons get a dunk. LOVED IT

What have you'all see in the defense? Anything better? I can't tell but it seems better. That's progress.

Rome wasn't built in a day and it's harder without competent PGs, coaching staff knows this so what are they focused on?

Knicksfan @ 12/27/2020 1:30 PM
I would honestly be surprised if Quick doesn’t start the next game he is able to play. I think Thibs is past the point of excuses about not starting him. Payton is surely forcing his hand playing his worst and his best wasn’t great either.
fwk00 @ 12/27/2020 2:06 PM
To hell with the record at this point.

This roster has got to be cleaned up. The brotherhood of mediocre turds has to be shown the door.

DSJ is the waste of a roster spot.

Kadeem Allen Frank Mason, E.Mudiay can't be worse

Waive/trade Payton - Kyle O'Quinn would be a great deep bench Center option or Caleb Swanigan

cooch2584 @ 12/27/2020 3:44 PM
Randle is averaging a double double and is making 20 mil. and he isnt worth it?? AND 6 assists. who else in the league does that for that money? ILL WAIT
martin @ 12/27/2020 4:05 PM
2 games.

Burks and Randle are playing well IMHO and all without a competent PG.

technomaster @ 12/31/2020 6:48 PM
The good Payton has shown up for the past 2 games. Hopefully he can keep it going. When he drives he’s very effective.

I would say 1.5 games. He wasn't very good in the first half of the Cleveland game.

The blessing and curse of playing for a major market team. Feels like Payton and his representatives must be using these threads as motivation. Im sure him and Randle see the writing on the wall. And both have stepped up so far. I hope quickley continues to come off the bench and learn how to be a professional PG. Payton can't shoot, but everything else he does is legit.
