The Knicks are 5-6. Were you expecting more in the first 11 games ? And Barrett for all his shooting struggles is clearly a better player this year. Better free throw shooter, rebounder and defender. I think we can’t get too high or too low and just let the process play itself out over the season.

The free throw shooting has been way better

I also like RJ’s hustle on defense and rebounding

The shooting comes and goes but he has really been rounding out his game. He’s a true impact player no matter what he becomes offensively. Still seems like a guy who can score 20 without breaking a sweat once he gets in rhythm.

He’s gradually getting better. I still think in the long run he’s a better pro than Zion

Phuch Mendoza! Kid looked great today! Incessant whining about how we don’t develop players and no fan patience!

In my opinion....this is why its difficult to groom a young player in NY. No patience environment from fans to the media.

But ever since college, I was like if the knicks select RJ, I know he has the confidence to survive in NY. And to shoot bad into today's make or miss league, and still bring 100% effort in other parts of the game, that huge. Thanks to thibs who appears to be a perfect coach for RJ. Thibs will make him even more well rounded.

his numbers are up in January vs. December, but he is playing far too many minutes. Someone has to have a talk with Thibs. We're grinding him for nothing. He's going to end up hurt or developing bad habits.

Kid is 20 and we are letting him play thru it. He is under a microscope with a lot of smart basketball types that have his back.
Coach K, His father, and uncle Steve.
Do I prescribe he should cut his minutes a bit? Thats not a bad thing. But he is improving damn near ever week and its a joy to see this kid time and time again over come issues on the court and move his game forward.

As for fans being impatient, its really not a thing as long as he is not in social media and digesting it.
This kid got an offense rebound and put back yesterday that sealed the deal. His fast break in traffic was a thing of beauty. It was even from the right side!
He is 20. I’m excited for his future.

RJ is a rock and I remain super high on him. For me the perspective is his physical profile combined with what is between the ears is what you build around. He's a high IQ BB player, a learner. He's going to get better and is already a 6'6 220+ beast at SG and he's 20. He may not get bigger, but he's got a lot of physical development still and he's already a big/strong NBA guard.

I dont know about his shooting. The downside is he lives in the Jimmy Butler/Sprewell zone of the low 30%s but even if that's as good as we see this is a 2-way SG who could giving you 24/8/5 in a couple years. A stronger Derozan maybe. Those are star #s (and his improvements are helping us in the win column)

RJ is tied with Randle for leading the team in minutes. We are the now the best defensive team in a league of guards and we are playing a 20 year old guard more minutes than anyone else in the league. That should not be overlooked or glossed over

RJ wrote:[Thibodeau] is always believing in me,” Barrett said after Sunday’s 105-75 Knicks’ thrashing of the Celtics in Boston. “That’s the biggest part, he’s teaching me so many nuances of the game. I’m really happy to be a part of this team, learning under this coach.”

“Not sold on him.....”
We are Knick fans, we are skeptical on being sold anybody unless they are in their prime or past it.
This coaching staff is sold on him. Thats all that matter.

Can we stick all the negative posts about our own young guns. Put some respect on his name.
