Do not think benching Bullock would be a good move or one that Thibs considers. Fact is Bullock is a solid defender. One of two currently on the starting five so therefore blends well with RJ and Randle. I thought this board is all about defense and the +/-?

Burks minutes will come out of the SG's and wings that do not have it going. And to give RJ a break from playing 40+. We know Thibs likes his vets so he may go with Burks and Rivers first off the bench. Toppin and Knox will now have to fight for back up 4 time and Burks time. This also forces Thibs to have shorter leashes on Quicks, Knox, Rivers, Payton and RJ. However, we all know that at least Thibs will go with hot hands down the stretch.

Main reason I had him out is because I don’t want Knox’s mins getting cut. I don’t hate Bullock, he’s contributed a lot defensively but Knox needs to keep his current mins.

Would also like to see Knox continue to shine. If we look at this fairly, Knox, Burks, Rivers are basically just shooters. Can not say they offer much more. Maybe some assists from Burks and Rivers. So their shooting or lack there of will determine if they stay in the game. Thibs will just go with who ever one of those is hot. Think RJ and Bullock get bounds and play solid defense. May be the reason Thibs prefers him over others mentioned. The guy that I think gets pushed to the side is Toppin. Unless he starts to break out. Thus far he has just shown a propensity to put up threes at a low click and dive to the basket. Both which other guys can do as well.

I think burks comes off the bench and adds another great floor spacer for quick to play with . Probably gets more minutes then bullock and finishes games .. I see this
5 finishing games ...rivers should be the one that rides the pine .

Quick
Burks
Rj
Randle
Mitch

That’s a sweet future starting 5 as well.

knicks1248 @ 1/21/2021 2:26 PM

Sure. If you want to go off 10 or so games so far. Fact is the Rivers is the most tested and has played in tough playoff series and shot pretty well. He looked like Steph in the first two games back. Burks probably gets more minutes. But again, based on what we saw from him to start the season. Thibs will go with who ever is hot. If Bullock or Rivers stays cold, Quick goes 2 for 24 again or If RJ goes on the kind of shooting woes we saw a few games ago, they will all be on the bench.

Rivers is either injured(looks like it as he’s doubtful vs GSW) cause he looks like a fraction of a player since his outburst vs the jazz...

I’d like to see Knox shine as well ... since burks has been out he’s stepped up as a 3 point shooter and deserves credit. Burks is a vet and a very good player, he will really help I wish we signed burk to the same contract as rivers!!

I knew knox would be the one dropped out of the rotation...His first DnP

Knox just hasn’t shown enough at this point.

I think we should try to move Noel to Golden State. They have room and need a big that can defend.

Honestly if there is a team we can help to keep the Mavs out of the playoffs we have to look at those type of moves.

But what is GS willing to give up in return that it would be worthwhile for both teams?
