Knicks · 2021 trade deadline is fast approaching, who do you want the Knicks to try to get? (page 1)

Jimbo5 @ 1/19/2021 8:33 PM
This knicks team is showing grit and a defensive identity mirroring JVG's knick team. Moving forward the knicks need to cement their point guard rotation. So far the only players that appeals to me are Quickly and Frank. Unfortunately i dont think frank will be in the roster next year. Aside from solidifying the point guard rotation, this team still needs a ton of shooting and some star power.

Is there a way to trade for both Lonzo Ball and Victor Oladipo without giving away no more than 2 first round picks and a package that doesn't include Rj, Mitch, Randle, Obi, Knox and Quickly.

Could a Lonzo Ball and Quickly PG rotation be a solid one? Ball's defense and playmaking are good, he has shown improvement with his shooting. Oladipo can provide the Knicks some star power but im not sure about his fit with RJ. Yes, Oladipo will be a free agent next year but look at the knicks history with free agents. If they can have Oladipo at a reasonable trade price and if they can secure a promise to extend if they think the fit with RJ is good why not take a gamble on him if he is available.

A line up of Mitch, Randle, RJ, Oladipo and Ball could be good, they might have issues with shooting though.

Ball is intriguing but I’m concerned about him and adding another bad free throw shooter to the team. Considering we haven’t seen our team with Burks for an extended period of time and I don’t think we are in particular position to buy or sell, I’ll stand pat most likely.

Might?

Ideally i would rather drop Payton for Ball. I think both players are similar but Ball is alot better and still has a higher upside. Slowly the team's free throw percentage is improving. The past few games RJ has been good.

I agree that would be an upgrade.

Personally, the only trades I'd like to see are ones focused on the long term. If that's a Lonzo Ball then okay, but not at too high a price. The players we really want may be coming from those #1 picks.

I’m gonna do a BIG pass on Ball.
Is there any financial way we could get Drummond and olapido?
Jimbo5 @ 1/19/2021 10:18 PM
Will you be willing to take a risk on The NBA's latest headcase, Kevin porter jr? The price might be low here. He might even be available through waivers. Can Thibs and woodson straighten a player like him?

I could normally agree about Ball except we have a bunch of players who are probably much more suited for the open court and I think Ball is far more suited for the open court than Payton. He would be a halfway decent fit.

It would probably cost way too much to get him though. For that, I am passing.

Allanfan20 @ 1/19/2021 10:25 PM
Porter is not worth the risk to me. It seems like we have a solid locker room and we all know how that translates to the court.

I like Drummand a lot but you are trading for offense and getting rid of defense. Mitch is becoming really valuable for us and Thibs clearly likes him. Getting rid of Mitch for Drummond is a lateral move at best.

PS, I would consider trading Randle while his value is high.

No no no no no.

I’d be willing to give up a lot for Bradley Beal. A lot.
Still keeping my eye on Buddy Hield.
Watching Toronto to see if Pasquale Siakam becomes available. Not likely, but saw a rumor once so been watching.

Is it fast approaching? I think we just completed 20% of the season
wargames @ 1/20/2021 2:41 AM
I don’t have a specific player’s name I just know they can use some more reliable shooting.

I think the deadline is March 25, a little over 2 months to go. Its a shame that roster-wise the team hasn't been in full strength. They have around 2 months to eveluate the current talent in the team and make trades. A player that might fit well on the starting line up id Buddy Hield. The price will be much lower than targeting Beal.

DJMUSIC @ 1/20/2021 3:38 AM
I like any of the 2 blazers
Guards.

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.

If NY can keep Obi and there young core
I'd not be against moving RJ , Mitch
$$$ and high picks for either Blazers
Guard.

Knicks need a big shot guy who can
Play here with no fear... to get respected.

I'd be also interested in keeping Randle
Out of this deal since NY will have picks
Years and $$ but blazers Guard won't be cheap

In short a star/Superstar need to be in
NY. That will get more nba talent to have
Interest in knickerbockers period!
😎

DSJ has me shook of taking guys on slumps because they might legit be bad. Heild is up and down, idk.

I want to see how Oladipo does in Houston. Like the goal is to win a chip right..... then the only FA we should be looking at is Oladipo because he looks like he can contribute to that.

Victor is always! Injured 30% of season.. how do that help? Nyk

ESOMKnicks @ 1/20/2021 4:57 AM
I would be against any trade except for an under-30 top 10 player, and even then would not include RJ, Mitch or IQ in the deal. And no non-shooting centers either, please.

You need a big-2 or a big-3 to challenge for a championship in the league, anything that does not get us there is a lateral waste of time.

Chandler @ 1/20/2021 8:23 AM
I would see if we can trade our cap space and space on the bench for future picks

We are headed in the right direction. Keep building

HofstraBBall @ 1/20/2021 8:55 AM
Think the Nets having the big three may change the game plan for Rose. As that seemed to be his hope for the Knicks. He may now shift to a longer timeline. Which would be to stick to building through the draft. Do not see Beal, Heid, Victor or other high priced options changing the teams eventual outcome. Which is probably a first round win or exit. For me, the current team is building chemistry, is fun to watch and has as much potential to surprise as any other good team in the league. Would only do a trade if there is an opportunity to add TWO superstars. Which there are none currently. So think it's best to just wait or only do trades that would take on short term salary dumps and come with additional draft picks.
