Knicks · Use Frank/Smith/Bradzekis cap space and a two to improve for this year? (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 1/24/2021 10:42 AM
I didnt like the way Harrison Barnes took us apart from the 3 position.

Two vets that I think we can get at the trade deadline if their teams dump

Rudy Gay Demarcus Cousins. They wont require 1's but rather cap space 2nd rder prospect

Nalod @ 1/24/2021 6:45 PM
Based on one game?
And you also know those guys are available?
Or are we thinking liek a fantasy/video game GM?
ramtour420 @ 1/24/2021 10:11 PM
Rudy Gay would be great under Thibs. Not sure about Boogie. What would it take to get Rudy? I haven't been following his trade value

How old is Rust Gay now? 54?

Andreas Bargnani was the top pick in his draft class.

If we want something out of this season--well need an uptick on offense. Vets will comform to the D Im not worried about that. I think Rudy Gay is 34 and he splaying well but he cant command more than a prospect or a two--same thing with Cousins. It would give us up ticks at 3-5. Id like to try to make the playoffs for once--we wont be bad enough to get a top 5 pick so why not try in a short season? But Im not giving up anything of tier 1 value as in 1st rd pick etc.. cap sapce 2nd rd pick or prospect like Frank who still has value. Id throw in Knox if it was a player that was a tad younger.
jrodmc @ 1/25/2021 11:13 AM
Iggy must look like pure horsesheehit in practice on D if he can't get any time at all with the way this team shoots...

Right. Iggy is 6'6" or so. Who are the Knicks sitting so that he can get minutes? Burks? RJ? Knox? Bullock? Rivers?

Dude is practice fodder

Who knows. Bargnani is like Pennywise the clown. I could of sworn I saw old Native American images of an epic battle with a Seven foot nightmare who appears during a cultures downfall. There might also be a pictures of a clown-like seven foot monster posing with Walt "Clyde" Frazier in a Cleveland uniform and encouraging John Starks to keep shooting in the finals.

Might look bad on both sides of the ball. The few games Ive seen Iggy, since his rookie year, is a player that often looks flat-footed out there. Moves more like a rec league player now.

Yet another knee jerk over reaction after a loss. Thought we came back nicely yesterday. Even the Blazzer's ball boys were hitting 30 footers in the first half. Despite that we made a good come back. Including a very offensively charged 36 point 4th Q. Btw, we shot 41% as a team from three. So how much more of an "uptick on offense" do you really need. Keep in mind, Bullock and Rivers will come around with their shooting. We just got back Burks and he had a great game last night. MR and Noel ar no Christian Woods but they bring a lot of other variables to the line up. I like the team chemistry we are building. Finally have a team identity after many years of none. Randle is having an All Start year. Quicks is getting better every game. RJ seems to have put it back together prior to last night. Think Knox has shown signs and is a solid second unit player.
Toppin is in his 4th NBA game. Think it would be wise to see how the moves made this past season pan out. At least that is what a PRO NBA FO does. Unless you think they should act like armchair GM's or 15 year old kids managing their NBA2K lineup.

Btw, did not know Cousins is available? How does he fit with Randle? Why would a 34 year old Gay be much of a difference maker in making the playoffs?

Philc1 @ 1/25/2021 12:50 PM
Why would you want Cousins? He’s trash and doesn’t fit today’s nba

Rudy would be good here for a couple of years. Hes still real good but old enough not to command a great price tag. Same with Cousins--hed give us some offense off the bench. Im not looking to spend big but why not give it a shot in short season?
BRIGGS @ 1/25/2021 12:56 PM

This guy would help us

Nalod @ 1/25/2021 1:01 PM
Is SAS actually looking to trade him?
What are you willing to give up for him and is that a viable attractive offer to SAS a team that is been playing very well of late?
Or you blowing smoke up our asses with random impulsive concepts and really just say “Its nice we have Burkes”, be great to have a guy like Rudy! I guess its ok then to keep adding older guys and not develop yoot???
technomaster @ 1/25/2021 1:25 PM
I think the Knicks FO needs to evaluate where we're headed this season. Keeping our meh SF situation allows us 48 minutes on the court to rotate guys in and out. Those minutes have been going to mostly to Bullock/Knox, and now Burks. Maybe Frank Ntilikina will be tapping into these minutes as well once he's healthy again

A serious question is what is Knox's upside? He's playing a cleaner game this year... but given what we've seen, what's his upside looking like? Is his upside Reggie Bullock or is there more untapped potential?

If the Knicks think we're really a playoff team, the question is whether we should look for a real upgrade to the spot or if we're satisfied with keeping these minutes flexible.

Can see some Briggs type fan in Utah starting a "We should have signed Austin Rivers" thread tomorrow.

For 25 games, Rivers will look like the biggest bargain in the league. He will look like G League next 25 games and will look he's paid just right the remaining 29 games.

Of course I remember. I'm reminded every time I see Jacob Poetl run the floor for the Spurs

franco12 @ 1/27/2021 11:13 AM
How is this hard? We need a pg and we need outside shooting that can stay healthy.

Gay might be a nice role playing vet on a winning or developing team, but that is not what we need.

Unless you are upgrading Payton in a meaningful way, no trade helps us this year.
