Knicks · Give the Minnesota Timberwolves Mitch Robinson for Naz Reid (page 1)
BRIGGS@ 2/11/2021 12:06 AM
Straight up
They need defense and rebounding The Knicks need more of an offensive 5 man Good straight low money trade
BigDaddyG@ 2/11/2021 1:54 AM
Do you think the current Knicks coach would go for that?
franco12@ 2/11/2021 7:18 AM
I love Naz Reid- first, he is a local product from either Asbury Park or Neptune here in NJ. I think I caught him in his last tournament game, and just thought- wow, what a nice physical talent, big, mobile, coordinated.
Looking at his production, I don’t know if those are empty stats on a losing team, but not sure how Minny would just trade him.
I know you are looking for more production from the 5. I just feel Mitchell still has more he can do with the right personnel and perhaps, remember his tweet he deleted- he can do more but the system doesn’t let him.
So would Naz be an upgrade- perhaps, on the offensive end- but would we be able to see the benefits of that with Randle on the squad at the same time?
I’d offer them Frank and the Piston’s 2nd rounder. And if you felt highly enough, I’d trade the lower of our pick and the Dallas pick in the first round. Naz is young enough and really seems to have an NBA ready rugged body.

This really would help both teams Minnesota needs pure defense and rebounding. You can put towns at 4
We could use Reid at our 5 backed by Noel
Make both teams better

Ok. But my point is Thibs would probably not go for that move. He's defense first, proven by his stubborn refusal to get Payton out the starting lineup. Even if the Knicks did make that deal, it's likely he'd have Noel starting over Reid.

Wing man and PG are the positions we need to upgrade, not C.
You don't give up on a potential first team defensive C this early for a bench bro.

I agree Martin. Where does briggs come up with these ideas?? Mitch just needs a 12 ft jumper and that can be taught. All players want to shoot but not all players want to play defense. Mitch is an anomaly
jskinny35@ 2/11/2021 12:18 PM
Berman posted about possibility going after Beal or Oladipo (yuck) - maybe we should see who gets sent out before deciding if we need any other changes. Who would be traded for Beal - RJ or Randle and picks? I would want to know that before swapping Mitch for anyone. I personally hope Beal and Oladipo are not the targets but we'll have to wait and see.
NYKBocker@ 2/11/2021 12:23 PM
Oh hell no. Not sure what is infatuation with scoring centers. You already have Randle as the focal point. You need a Center that can compliment that. Mitch is a mid range shot away from being an All-Star. Yup. I said it. All-Star

We have two defensive C— we need 1. Hrs also a spacer which Mitch is not. His defense abs rebounding is good
jskinny35@ 2/11/2021 12:43 PM
To Briggs credit - swapping Mitch and pick for Wiseman would have probably been the right call if we wanted more O/shooting from the 5

Mitch not being a spacer should never be a reason to throw out there as a reason to trade him. He has all defensive team potential and he took a big step in that direction this year. He absolutely needs to add more offense to his game. So the question is: Can he?
The Knicks have 1 starting level defensive player and a back up guy. If you wanted to trade Naz Reid for Nerlens, then we can have that talk cause those 2 players are more in line with one another value wise to the teams.
For me, I sit tight and think about giving Richaun Holmes an offer next year if Noel is not your cup of tea. Or sign Daniel Theis away from Boston.
Again, the C position is not the spacing problems. It's PG and an upgraded wing guy. You are trading the wrong person.
It's weird.... if the Knicks had one of the best offenses in the league, would you trade their most important offensive player for a nobody? Cause that's inline with what you are doing here

I’m looking at it like Reid is simply the better all around player and that his combination of skills would help us more than what Mitch brings. He certainly can be a productive defender Now on the other side I don’t think Reid and KAT match up well. Kat is different player than Randle. Randle is a point forward Kat is a scorer rebounder. And again I think Reid has star potential — the upside mitch foes not have.
My bet is if anyone watched the guy they might change their mind. I’d also wager most people do not even know naz reid

Reid must have had like 1 good game?

Reid's been solid with KAT out. But they're not even considering trading Towns to make room for Naz. Reid is a nice piece, but I'm not thinking major needle mover. Noel would probably be more comparable in terms of value. Look up Noel's numbers with Paul last year. I'm certain we just need the right playmaking and perimeter players to unlock him.

Is there something we can do to unlock his hands?

Just need to make sure you pass it with the right touch.

Do the Knicks even have a PG that we can say runs the PnR well?

Frank?

If I was trading Mitch (which I wouldn’t), I’d rather trade him to the lakers for this guy:
