It’s a good combination of everything combined for 48 minutes and the price is right
Rose should be opening your eyes to how bad Payton is.
Why does Thibs start him?
1) He doesnt turn the ball over
2) He doesnt miss defensive assignments
3) He plays very hard
Thibs is dying for someone to replace him. Best thing we can do is bring back Rose next year for like 2/$20mm and give big money to Lowry or Conley for 2 years $58mm.
Keep all the draft picks and keep drafting BPAs and developing your kids on rookie contracts.
Payton was gonna get $8mm. Instead of picking up his option we released him and brought him back for half that. I honestly appreciate his hard play, but he's not a very good NBA player.

exactly. Well said.
Also Obi looks like a jack rabbit and Deni looks like a potato
Been trying to watch Payton more closely in recent games. On the plus side he's been finishing better however he appears to not look for everyone when running the point. Guessing he is still freezing out certain guys.

This...he used to be a decent distributor. This year, when he drives to the basket, 99 percent of the time he is not looking for a teammate cutting, in the dunker spot or rolling off the pnr, hes looking for that push shot of his. He is shooting more this year than he ever has at any point in his career. He is also averaging 3 ast per game which is half of what he ever ages over his career. The worse part is that he never pushes the tempo....when Rise comes in, the pace quickens immediately.

“Your never alone.....”
He played better than John wall last night 🤔
people are hating on him same the same way they were doing to Randle last year.
He is a top tier backup pg in the nba.

I don’t hate EP or the price. I am looking for excuses why Barrett hasn’t taken over the league yet. Perhaps some patience will do instead, but I am certainly a believer in the eFG/3pt offense ideology and neither EP not Barrett are truly in line with that. Barrett showed greater signs of that, but his trips to the FT line are certainly down this year.
I’m done knocking EP. Watching him fight through screens, there is a lot to love about him.
If we trade EP for picks, Rivers is a good stopgap PG without moving the needle in terms of chemistry with the team.
He plays good D, has good size, better shooter than EP. Frank moves up as the situational player of thibs.
Complaining about Elf is like complaining about buying a 3 year old low mileage Camery for 15k and bitching don’t have leather, heated seats or 16 speaker high end sound. One gets what the pay for but the value has been realizability for a good price. Elf is a good value. Knicks can always over pay for talent. Thats not how the game is won.
Barrett having a bad stretch. Knicks are winning though.
Truth is I’m enjoying the 2nd unit. That Ally OOP from knox to obi last night was electric. Rose pushes the pace which is fun vs. Randle/RJ pace.
Not saying “Start......” or “lets make a trade.
Payton is effective and Rose brings a lot now. Team is moving again towards .500.
Payton is not the answer.

Not bad. Possibly. But rivers only has 1 good game out of 10. Payton is consistent. Just not shooting in shooting though.

Great analysis 👍

Nobody said he was. Stop-gap for now. He is not horrible. Just his shooting and low key petty behavior lol

He seems to getting VERY makeable shots but missing them. His vision for passing is limited. He hasn’t yet corrected the cross court passing or holding off from passing when there is an obvious defender in a passing lane. All of these are fixable and I just don’t understand why they are there and repeated as much as they are. He’s young I guess? Just expected more sooner. Oh, and he is a bit selfish offensively.
None of these are Elf related IMHO

I think RJ is fatigued. Needs a break.
I know he is only 20/21 but his style of play is bully ball and that is rough on the body. He needs a game or two off.
That’s why he is missing easy bunnies lately.
