Knicks barely have anybody in the top 100 in any counting stat category. Maybe Burks and Randle in 3pt shooting % and Quickley on free throws but that’s about it
They just can’t afford to turn the ball over and give up offensive rebounds/second chance points. Their offense is pretty underwhelming and the loss of Robinson as an inside present cleaning up the rim and rebounding is starting to really show.
We might seriously need to look at a rental on Drummond if we want to stay in the playoff picture. It shouldn’t cost that much. At this point Cleveland should know the reality of his value in a trade. Maybe a second rd pick and filler.
I agree but rebounding should never be an issue with this team. Shooting definitely is. Drafting Kispert and grabbing someone like Lonzo Ball this summer to essentially replace Payton would go a long way in that category. Bringing back Bullock too.
The team is last in scoring in NBA and last in pace.
So we have less positions also.
So it is both the luck of shooting and slow starting lineup.
Adding another slow dude for rebounding will not change much.
We need serious upgrade at PG and wing.
This will not be resolved this season and getting into final 10 is not that important to lose any assets.
If the team has a concern with rebounding over the next 2-4 weeks than they can just trade from Drummond.

Randle is our primary ball handler no matter how many guards are on the floor.
Even when randle grabs the boards he is always ahead of his teammates.
The knicks don't practice how to play fast, even on a 2 on 1 fast break the spacing is usually horrible and easy to defend.

Randle is No. 7 in double doubles. No. 12 in FG made No 7 in rebounds, No 19 in assists and 44 in def rtg
MR is No 18 in Reb, No 32 in steals, 10 in blocks PG, 20 in def rating
RJ is No. 39 in FG made, No 66 in assists
Derrick Rose is No 82 in assits
Payton is 54 in FG made, No 54 in assists
Bullock and IQ are top 100 in 3pt made
Not to mention RJ and Randle are and 9 in minutes played.
At the end of the day we just have to hit our shots from three, play energetic defense and we win.

You make a very good case for why Mitch is so sorely missed. I don’t think the combination of Noel and Taj fill the void. By the time Mitch gets back, we could be back in the lottery. Drummond could be a cheap temporary rental until Mitch gets back which could be what 10, 15, 20, 25 games?
