Knicks · If we can get Drummond for (page 3)

Briggs - anytime a player costs a good amount it's not necessarily a no brainer. I don't think he fits playing around Randle and think it would pose chemistry issues to have a guy (looking to get new contract) playing little minutes. Say we trade him for scraps - that's still money that could be better used at a more needed position and/or you never know when other players requests trades. We have such greater need at SG, PG, etc... IMO - he's not the guy you pick up unless he costs much less salary wise and/or we are moving on from Mitch.

I'm not sure he's a fit here but I think he is.. why not try it out for a year and see? Adding Rose and Drummond would be a huge talent infusion and I'm sick of not making the playoffs... short sighted? Possibly. But i doubt what we'd give up would hang more of an impact than half a season of Drummond, CLE got him for peanuts

Early in the season the guy was beating the Knicks by himself. We have two young guys who need a second chance. We lost our C— we could stand a new one. What exactly is the issue— he’s gonna disrupt our championship caliber chemistry here?
Downside of trade? Zero upside? Possibly good to great. No brainer

Funny how all the attention is on that 33 pt, 23 reb three point win against us, no attention to his 4 point stinker when we blew them out by 21.

If it was a stealthy tank you wanted, we should have just kept DSJ and started him😂

That's not stealthy at all. That would be about as subtle as a single Kardashian sister at the all star game. We need to start IQ so he can develop and take his lumps along the way. It wouldn't be tanking. It would be, uhhh development.
So IQ starting versus getting the same minutes off the bench helps his development how?

It helps learn the league as a starter. Also, I'm assuming he's get even more minutes. Help him learn the conditioning needed for the NBA. It might also help him get a blue chip backcourt mate in the upcoming draft

I do we lost a center and we can get a good 1. I dont think he does anything to julius randle. Mitch robinson plays around the hoop.

For that price I would

I'm so disappointed that it took to the third page for someone to point out that Frank Knox would be an epic NBA player. Unstoppable force on D, smooth J from the corner, slashing and crashing, huffing and stuffing. Frank Knox would be an All-Star.

Well, I'm thankfully not all coaches think like fans and understand sometimes the meal turns out better when it's slow cooked versus thrown in the microwave.

If the Knicks get Drummond they can use Mitch as trade bait to get that elusive superstar here in a sign and trade

The cavs talent outside Drummond is mediocre at best. Darius Garland is on his way to bring a bust thank God we picked RJ over him

Drummond was the best player on ONE Detroit playoff team who barely got into the playoffs as the 8th seed and got swept in the first round. The ONLY other time he made the playoffs they were once again the 8th seed with a .500 record and got swept in the first round. And that year he WAS NOT the best player, Blake Griffin was. Not to mention his playoff stats that year took a major dip compared to this regular season numbers. What Kevin Love has to do with this I have no idea.

Sorry if the details softens your mega "take" about the greatness of Andre Drummond.

I’m not sure why so against?
We’re 14-16 we’re an ok team
We lost our C probably for 2 months
If we can get Drummond for frank and Knox you give those two guys a chance to play and a free two month look at Drummond on the Knicks it cost nothing the downside is almost zero? He probably would really help us.

I think i will agree with this. Although I prefer a shooter ie Lavine. I think Briggs has a point. Frank and Knox have had years and we are still hoping. They may be dealt for 2nd rounders at best. Which we would not be able to sign as we have too many picks. Which I still like to use to move up in the draft but Drummond is young and a hell of a player. I disagree with those saying 20 and 15 do not affect a game.

Hey if u can get 2 first rd draft picks for our space— then ok— but it’s nearly impossible. Why not try to win this year best we can? Drummond I n this team will be real good. Just compare Noel to Drummond? Andre Drummond is a good person — he’s a good teammate. Hell do nothing to team chemistry

20 and 15 affects your pay check (hence Drummond getting $28M per year), but what has it done in terms of affecting team success? And for $28M I don't want to hear about the supporting cast. Look at what a prime Dwight Howard was able to accomplish in Orlando not exactly playing with stacked squads. And while everybody wanted a prime Dwight Howard leading up to free agency, Drummond (putting up comparable numbers) will be begging for teams to take him on a severely discounted contract. Why is that?

The typical Drummond season since he hit his stride has been around 16-17 ppg, 14-15 rebs, 1.5 blocked shots. Look at this team's won-loss record and tell me how much of an affect it has had on games? Two losing franchises have/will shortly dump him for way less than you would expect for someone putting up the numbers he puts up.

The question is why aren't these red flags resonating with some Knicks fans? The answer is because people are only looking at his numbers and that one monster game against us and they're sold.

It's not a "free look." You have to trade for him. You have to give up assets to acquire him. Just because Knox and Frank aren't playing doesn't mean they are not potential trade assets. You burn the cap space flexibility for the rest of the year if there are other opportunities for better players who may be a better fit.

This reminds me of when we supposedly chased (ironically) Drummond's former teammate Greg Monroe. Looked good on paper. A big putting up close to a double/double every game scoring 15+ ppg. How does that look in hindsight?
