I'm not saying that in that case we can bring him in as a free agent because he will probably join the Nets, but I want to say I wouldn't really bring in a player we don't need too much, and his team is planning to buyout him anyway.

Also, Andre has almost $ 29 million this season, and we don’t have that much space on the cap and someone has to go in the opposite direction as well. Who would that be?

If we’re already chasing the playoffs at all costs, the biggest needs of this team are passing PG and shooting, and we brought Rose in and now trying to bring in Drummond. It doesn't seem very logical to me.

It would give us offensive force at teh basket and many second chance opportunities with his rebounding. Also he ha all star type attributes. Hes no perfect player but if we want a pop in the arm and stabilization for the rest of the year--I think he would give it. This is a cash deal No assets accept younger players who have no future here

except that it doesnt. Drummond is not an offensive force. He's simply bad. You cant seeem to get past the biceps and look at him as an actual basketball player which he is not very good at.

Do you know how bad Drummond is? He's shooting .545 from 0-3 feet this, also known as "at the rim."

By comparison
Elfrid is shooting .563 from 0-3 feet

In fact of everyone on the whole Knicks roster only Burks and Rose are worse from 0-3 feet than Drummond. He's worse from farther out. He doesnt hit FTs and he doesnt protect the rim. He thinks he's a star.

At least Kanter is gets buckets around the basket. Drummond is so bad. Adds zero value.

oh god, he's worse than RJ at the rim and ain't nobody worse than him

Yeah, you can't $h*t on Cousins and then get wowed by Drummond's offense. They're both bad, it's just Andre got more minutes. There are whispers that Andre might not have the same lift and that's why he's struggling at the rim. Don't know. Don't really care. Want no part of it.

I wonder what we ca get to help facilitate a Lowry trade to Philly. Sign me up if we could get Maxey

We can’t get Drummond because we need MRobs defense on the floor as much as possible.

This.

Fans wanting trades for the likes of Cousins or Drummond will have answer these type of question when proposing:

- Why do you want to take development minutes away from Mitch?
- Why do you want the defense to get worse?
- Why do you want to mess with team chemistry?

Don't forget lack of switch ability on defense.

But he posts impressive pts/reb stats so he must be good. lol

Only way I would attach anything besides a 2nd Rd pick for Drummond is if we are picking him up and trading him within 24 hours to another team in a package that upgrades our roster...
Ironically, playing for someone like Thibs may actually develop Drummond into a decent two-way player, but at current value with production on defense and expiring contract, a 2nd is all he is really worth...

Let's frame it differently:

Drummond makes $28M this season with about half the games left, give or take.

Do you think the Knicks TEAM is willing to pay $14M and give up MORE assets to have a half season looksy for a player that has been in the league for 8+ seasons?

$14M? To see what you already KNOW and has many many downsides?

Briggs considers that a "free look." I think watching him on TV in another uniform is a real "free look."

Looks like we might need drummond with taj is hurt, and mitch is out for a while with hand injury. I think we should get drummond its not going to cost us much plus its going be half season,

I think trying Skal from the G league, giving Obi more time and maybe trying to trade for a low cost guy that mirrors the guys we lost (Bamba?) Would be more prudent.

There's a big in Westchester averaging a double/double, Simisola Shittu.

I think since the time mitch went out with the injury Noel has stepped up big time to fill the void left by mitch. I think Noel has earned his keep in the knicks roster well beyond this season. That being said i just think the FO should just look for a stop gap center in free agency.someone who can give them 15 minutes to rest noel while Taj is on the mend. No need to sign or trade someone who will compete with noel for minutes once mitch returns. Maybe waive pinson and sign Shittu to a two way contract? I hope the FO can package Payton, Rivers, bullock or Knox for a shooter, a 3 and D guy instead?

Agreed. We really need to upgrade our SF position. We don't have consistent scoring options and having bullock out there when randle, Rose and Barrett can't get going is ugly, just look at the Golden state game.

Harrison Barnes is a guy I keep bringing up because if the Kings move farther from the standings, they will just tank for draft positioning.

Barnes for Knox, Payton, rivers and our worst 2nd round pick should do it.

Mitch/Noel/Taj
Randle/Obi/Ignas
Barnes/Bullock/Pinson
Barrett/Burks/Frank
Rose/IQ/Harper

If we make the playoffs the 9 man rotation will be

Mitch/Noel
Randle/Barnes
Barnes/Bullock
Barrett/Burks
Rose/IQ

You supllement Randle with guys that can give 20 a night in Barrett, Rose and Barnes and an efficient 10 points from mitch

Philc1 @ 3/1/2021 5:17 AM
Get ready to see plenty of Obi at C unless Taj can come back from the ankle sprain

So basically his terrible shooting at the rim actually helps his rebounds. If he wasn't so horrendous at finishing he would be a worse rebounder. That's empty stats taken to a whole another level. I wonder if he leads the league in empty stats. Is there a stat for that? There ought to be
