I'm trying to figure out if there are really any UFA's out there that would make sense for the Knicks and it's slim pickings after the trade deadline. Powell, Fournier have really good teams now and high incentive to resign with them.

DeMar would make RJ's and Randle's life much easier and add a consistent 20 point scorer on the team.
I'd go as far as saying that if you signed him to a 3-4 year deal that is a value contract, he is the type of guy you could also include in a trade to offset talent (you don't trade Bullock or Burks in the same way).
The Knicks are at the point in their build that adding talent upwards is key. They can't add perfect players, it is what it is.
If NY came away with Demar and Ball, I would be in heaven

this and I think Demar is a great fit and floor spacer. He's got one of the best mid range games around, a great handle and another high assist guy.
Also IF you add a guy who can handle and pass like Derozan it makes a Rose/IQ combo at PG look even better. I like the idea of an established vet along with a couple more good looking rookies. Either way we have a good young core. Exciting to see how the FO adds to it
Demar is already up there in age, is likely to be expensive at 30 years old, plays the same position as RJ, not a prolific 3-point shooter. I do not think he is right for the Knicks. Would rather see them go for a more of a long-distance gunner.
My preferred plan for free agency in the summer: go all-in on Kawhi and throw a poison-pill offer at Duncan Robinson.
Why do I see so many posts that say the Knicks need 3point shooting and none that say we need a down hill, slasher type?
They are both needs and are equal IMHO and maybe even a guy who gets to the rim is even MORE important than an additional 3 point shooter

I think Otto Porter could be in play. He can take 20 minutes at SF and back up Randle at PF. Use Obi and picks to move up or get a PG

Yeah my bad for not describing what I meant more clearly. Knicks need more guys who are just relentless downhill to the rim, someone who can just break his man down at will and get to rim or dish. And I definitely had a wing in mind.
I don't think that Burks or RJ really fit that type; both can be in situational slashing modes but they are no where near deadly off the dribble. Rose these days is on the outer edge of that. Randle absolutely has the foot speed at his position but perhaps not the full ball handle and passing ability combo to do it full time.
We might get Ball, and find the FA market has dried up considerably. If this is how it plays out.
I like the idea of signing Derozan. The numbers appear to show that he's playing smarter. More like a proto-typical "Pops" player.
Getting Derozen would allow RJ to stay at the 2, and beat up on guards. Im guessing he would not be as big a cap hit as some other FAs. It might help make it easier to sign Mitch and Noel as well. While still getting an upgrade at the 3.
If we want to bring back most of the role players who have been the most impactful this season, signing Derozan and Ball, might be a way to get there, and contend.
Would'nt want it to be longer than 3 years though. Considering his age.
