Report: Knicks considered ‘frontrunners’ for Andre Drummond
According to FortyEightMinutes’ Sam Amico, there isn’t a shortage of interest for Drummond ahead of the March 25 trade deadline.
“As for Drummond, there is no shortage of interest,” Amico wrote. “He has been linked to the New York Knicks, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers. And now the [Chicago] Bulls.
“According to one league source, the Knicks are the ‘frontrunner’ for Drummond.”
The Knicks are currently the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference with an 18-18 record.
New York has a need at center, as it has lost Mitchell Robinson and Taj Gibson to injury, which has left Nerlens Noel as the team’s only true center on the roster.
While New York may be the frontrunner, it is hard to see the Cavs netting much in return from any team since Drummond will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Drummond is averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 points per game this season. Cleveland has been holding him out of the lineup until it finds a suitor in a trade.

The nba is a talent league. Andre Drummond has a LOT of talent and still untapped potential
Ya gotta remember the big dogs in the east have a 7-1 275 pound offensive center — we have nothing like him.

How has Drummond done in matchups vs Embiid? Doesn’t seem like someone that can guard out to 3pt line.
Such a bad idea. My guess is the Knicks will give away another 2nd because they don't think they have the roster space for 3 players next season

Embiid routinely violates Drummond. If that's the reason for acquiring Drummond, than that argument holds no water.

Its a good thing Amico is full of shit
We have Noel and Mitch and Gibson will be back. What's to be gained? I mean maybe for Rivers and they take on Noah's contract....
Yeah let’s not get a top 3 rebounder in the league

Ok, let's not forget how that will change team chemistry. David "jazz hands " Lee was also too happy to get out of the way to position himself for a rebound better. Not saying anything else. Oh, I will say that he rebounds his own misses then misses again to rebound. Playing a mini game within a game with himself. We could still use him I bet.

My understanding is that Robinson and Noel have been tasked with boxing out more so that the Team (i.e Barrett and Randle) can get the rebounds.

YES to this.
The Knicks are a top 10 rebounding rate team in the league. Rebounding is not a problem

The simplistic takes on player stats are a problem
It's also one of the reasons the team is a good defensive team while being slow paced team: They do this purposely

"Untapped potential" for someone who will be 28 this year? He's in his 9th year!
Why has all of this talent been "untapped?" Bad coaching? Oh, I forgot, he played most of his career for Stan Van Gundy and Dwane Casey (you know, former NBA coach of the year). Lack of opportunity? He's been either the #1 or #2 on most of the teams he played for.
Besides rebounding, what are these other "talents" he has a lot of?

Turnovers. Missed shots at the rim. Blown defensive assignments.
If noel goes down and mitch probably is not going to be back for another 3 weeks he is being reevalted. We need drummond because can't have no hands noel can't handle 40 minutes with obi being only big guy. Drummond is probably going cost knox and rivers.

Taj and Mitch will be back soon. You don't take on $14M salary and give up Knox for a 4th string big who would be useless in weeks

Taj will be back soon to give 10 mins or so.

The question is how long mitch is going to be out if he is going to be out 3-4 weeks then i see the front office going for drummond. Drummond isn't no scrub plus the knicks play embid and gianis twice this month. Drummond average 24 points and 14 rebounds against gianis this season in 3 games .

You mean Drummond averaged 24 meaningless points against Brook Lopez?

I guess you could say Drummond is more like a version of Kanter. But put him on the right team— he will have quality value
