*sigh*

Can't you just enjoy what they've done so far and be optimistic once in a while ?
We beat the Bucks earlier in the season but you only recall the Pistons wins ?

I don't think the post was meant to be pessimistic. I agree with Briggs, we will know soon how good this team really is. Him saying reality was more-so to imply us having a true test of how good we really are.

BRIGGS @ 3/11/2021 4:06 PM
That’s exactly right
But in fairness we don’t have Robinson but we need to win anyway
smackeddog @ 3/11/2021 4:12 PM
I’ve already enjoyed the season way more than I ever thought I would, so I’m very relaxed- we do well, we make the playoffs, we flame out we make the lottery, on the way we saw Randle become an all star, RJ and Mitch show signs of development and IQ exceed expectations. Let the remaining chips fall where they may!

Reality will be coming to only those who believe the Knicks are currently TOP tier team.
As constructed, Knicks are about middle of the pack in the NBA, imo, but are still capable of reaching the playoffs if they continue to beat teams that are below them and squeeze out a few surprise wins against top level teams.

this... we are not a top tier team. We are a team with a great defense and big scoring problems. We are very young. We are young enough to lose to anyone and talented enough to beat anyone.

Lets see how the grind goes. Getting Mitch back could be a real boost if he's riding the bike and in any kind of decent shape.

You already said it for me. I agree with the bold

Who thinks we are a top tier team? It would take a miracle to finish .500.

GustavBahler @ 3/11/2021 9:52 PM
Briggs is right. It will be challenging even if we are at full strength. Still believe we can make the playoffs.

We're a .500 team, mainly from Randle playing major minutes, and a friendly schedule. Barrett is stepping up. Need more players to do the same. Not to mention some good teams last season are struggling this season.

Unless Rose is sick with Covid, Im glad he's getting a midseason break before a run for the playoffs. Mitch cant come back soon enough. Quickley's bench scoring will be important.

Most successful teams have multiple stars to drive the offense. Cant keep expecting Randle to carry the offense without some legit help.

BRIGGS @ 3/11/2021 10:01 PM
I like this because you can evaluate the team better against tier 1 teams

Exactly. Reality only to those who are unrealistic.
houston20 @ 3/11/2021 11:52 PM
This why knicks should have made a trade during the all star break then given this knicks team the benifit of doubt. I said we should have just traded for drummond if the knicks knew mitch robinson was going to be out longer then expected witch seems like it. Also said no hands noel and taj gibson can't hold up against good front courts it going to take toll on there bodies. I really want to get a wing guard like a levine or beal but cost is too much at moment right now wait until the summertime.

Knee jerk reactions and thinking an individual piece might move the dial is wishful thinking. Good teams culture is to follow a plan. Fans are emotional to wins and loses.

Last night the individual pieces we call knicks all but Barrett had a bad game. The knicks had a bad game. 2nd unit lead by Burkes and IQ playing hero ball had a bad game. Randle ran into a a Bucks team that was determined to let him know there is a gap between him and Giannis. MIlwaukee clearly showed there is a gap between us and thats OK.
I’m not interested in Drummond as a rental. Want to talk to me long term thats a different conversation.
Reality is we have the third hardest schedule coming up the rest of the way and our over .500 status will be effected. That means we very well can lose more than win and if you think about it that means it will be frustrating for fans and you will write all kinds of things to suggest to satisfy that. But thats not teams operate.
Spurs have only made like two in season trades in the last 20 years. Not everyone does it. Granted, we are not the spurs but I bring it up because if as a fan you want to know how good teams do things then that’s something to take note of.
Leon and company are not content but they are not rushing or panicking and thats what got us in the mess for the last 20 some odd years.

“Be Cool”. Good things happen when you don’t react in fear.

BRIGGS @ 3/12/2021 11:06 AM
We got smashed by close to 30 2/3 games.

The first thing I noticed in both games is the GOOD team focused on Randle a lot. He did not play well either game.

Secondly we not only got almost no points out of 5 position. The 5 position had no defensive effect on game as floor was spread by good coaches. If Noel isn’t providing defense you’re probably better off w Randle at 5 and four guards.

When Randle is off we have little chance to win. The second man up Barrett is an excellent third cog not a second.

And like others said let’s not put the cart before the horse here. We have three picks and cap space coming up

jrodmc @ 3/12/2021 11:16 AM
Well, this at least is better than talking up CWood and Wiseman

We were about even in the first half, blowouts for and against. Need to keep games tight, instead of repeating sh!t losses like last night, where the defense looked non-existent. Bucks bench scoring 30 points on threes from DJ Augustin and Bryn Forbes?? Couldn't make either of them miss at least once?

Wondering if Frankie could stop the Freak.

I thought the Bucks offense was much more efficient in shot selection than the Knicks. Against top teams, the Knicks shot selection and points per possession will be outpaced.

Truly an off shooting night. IQ missed 3 free throws.

I am of the opinion that Bud may be the best head coach in the NBA.

And i hope we take that and use on an additional star because, You can't keep randle playing at his level and continue to focus on drafting 19 yrs old to help. I'm pretty sure Thibs is going to push like hell for a trade

When we played the Bucks last time, they missed a ton of open 3's, and we didn't. Last night once the lead got to 16, the defense, effort, and focus went out the window.
