The first thing I noticed in both games is the GOOD team focused on Randle a lot. He did not play well either game.

Secondly we not only got almost no points out of 5 position. The 5 position had no defensive effect on game as floor was spread by good coaches. If Noel isn’t providing defense you’re probably better off w Randle at 5 and four guards.

When Randle is off we have little chance to win. The second man up Barrett is an excellent third cog not a second.

And like others said let’s not put the cart before the horse here. We have three picks and cap space coming up

And i hope we take that and use on an additional star because, You can't keep randle playing at his level and continue to focus on drafting 19 yrs old to help. I'm pretty sure Thibs is going to push like hell for a trade

When we played the Bucks last time, they missed a ton of open 3's, and we didn't. Last night once the lead got to 16, the defense, effort, and focus went out the window.

As constructed, Knicks are about middle of the pack in the NBA, imo, but are still capable of reaching the playoffs if they continue to beat teams that are below them and squeeze out a few surprise wins against top level teams.

Who thinks we are a top tier team? It would take a miracle to finish .500.

I don't think it would take a miracle. I think two smallish trades could harden the roster in corrective ways.

Hahn and others don't believe a big move will happen and I think that's true.

OTOH, we have a surplus of expendable spare part players; Peyton, Rivers, Bullock and players who need more development than they will get in NY; Knox, Iggy.

Given that the coming salary cap for NBA teams has gotten far smaller, the Knicks may well take advantage of their cap space to assume responsibility for someone's larger contract (for a price). That's too hard to predict.

OTOH, the SF situation is chronic and a three-point shooter would be welcome at any position.

I keep circling back to Jake Layman, the Minnesota SF who is not great but a pure hustle energy player. Minny also has Culver, and under-achieving shooter. I can't help but think Rivers and Knox make it a fair deal. Rivers being good for the locker room, Knox giving them a higher ceiling than Layman over time.

Adding Layman would give Thibs a quicker hook on Bullock and maybe even a better starting option.
If Culver could be coached back to respectable bucket numbers, he comes off the bench for shooting only.

If we go 2-4 these first 6 games after the all star break I will be thrilled

Reality is still ok. We hanging in there. Tough road still!

I'm just shocked we won last night with that "beast" Drummond unlocked and free to dominate with AD and Lebron on the sidelines. The way he was portrayed last month I expected him to go Shaq-like on us!

Ask Detroit fans how much they miss him. It will tell you a lot. I think some of them might be annoyed with seeing Blake running and dunking again.

Many were not impressed we beat the lakers. On the second night of a back to back, on the road, they beat the Hornets who were short handed themselves.
Reality is take no win for granted. Its the NBA.

I guess the reality is that the Knicks are the kind of team opponents can't look past when evaluating upcoming games.

You can't be dismissive of this group. It has shown resilience in the face of injury and continues to play the kind of tough D that always keeps you in a game.

There is a reality were teams lose close games need to learn how to close them out. Many reasons for this but we lose sight that a team that loses in this way is to be commended for being in it late consistently and part of the learning curve.
With this win streak we are seeing a team that has found its role players. Randle was a fucking star last night and RJ a bondafide wingman.
Reality is Knicks saw the potential in Randle and we give him a better deal than anyone offered. Thats all that matters. Good Legacy move for Perry if it was on him.
Reality is for a few years we made some pretty good decisions but few were executed well. Fundamentally since Phil came on board and we stoped trading picks and taking on dumb contacts. Noah’s was bad but not a killer. DRose was a good decision his first go around but his health and mental health was not good. The DRose we see now in a support Role is better. He came for a one year audition and it failed. Good idea, bad execution. KP and Horny did not get along. We fired him for the team friendly charismatic Fiz. Good idea badly executed. Fiz did not bond with KP and his personality could not translate to success on the court.

As for the present.......Who doesn’t feel good about a 5 game win streak and another win over Dallas. Also Randle looked like a top 10 player!!! The move to trade KP, open up cap space, and all that transpired was a good idea and one that needed time to develop.
Reality is Thibs is wringing out ever drop this team can give him and I hope he does not go too far with it and burn them up.
I did not see this level of success coming this season. We are seeing good execution of good ideas which happens over time. Its just nice to not point at PHil-Dolan-Mills-Perry or anyone else and lay blame. Just to be able to enjoy this season and say “Knicks made good decisions that are paying off”.
THat its been done without burning draft picks, cap space and a young core being the best part because we have headroom to grow off this!

reality has shown over time that the team is tough.
WOODMANnYk @ 4/17/2021 6:03 PM
Thibbs earlier in the year said this team is only going to get better. I think we can see how the entire team are reaping the rewards.

Knicks offense clicking in all cylinders. Barrett, Bullock, Rose, Burks have all improved their 3 point shooting pct nd Knicks
as a team have improved their field goal%.

Knicks playing more efficient basketball and able to execute in the 4th qtr on close games.. They will be dangerous come playoff time with their overall team defense..
