Unless Dolan and Ewing arent on good terms, I find it hard to believe that Ewing would get the "Oakley treatment" Its very bad publicity. Dolan knows current NBA players didnt like how Oakley was treated by MSG security.
Ewing left the Knicks more than 20 years ago. Some MSG staff might know the name, but not what he looks like. Usually dont give any kind of security the benefit of the doubt when it comes to stopping black men. I dont see security doing this knowing the bad publicity it would generate,and maybe cost them their jobs. Unless it came from the top.
As far as I know, Dolan has no grudge against Ewing. Offered him a job coaching G-league, a few years back.

I hear you. If evidence comes out that they let Jay Wright walk but stopped Ewing, then we may have something. Otherwise I see this as a non-issue. However, maybe in hindsight the head of security could've anticipated this and educated his/her staff as to who he is and not to bother him if he doesn't have his credential on him. Maybe radio the rest of the check points to alert them that he's coming and to not detain him? Don't these guys usually have their credential hanging around their neck or clipped to their shirt?

Agree, they clearly f'ed up. Dont believe it was malicious, in this instance. Dolan spoke to Ewing. Glad to hear it.

Amen that. I worship Ewing, but here he has been acting like a child. Security rules and access protocols are still there for a reason, you are not supposed to be making decisions on whether to let people in or not on a whim, there is a system of passes, and you follow it. No pass - no entry, whether you are Ewing, Dolan, Spike Lee or Jesus Christ.
If they denied entry to Ewing, but let in, say, Chris Dudley without a pass, then it would have been racism.
Let’s be fair. Patrick Ewing looks like a different guy now
Maybe they didn't recognize him without the entire franchise on his back
