Knicks · Knicks are Interested in Myles Turner (page 1)

I actual mention this in the Drummond thread this morning..Hoping the pacers open the store for business, seeing that they are sliding in the standings

Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner has become a subject of interest for several NBA teams ahead of the March 25 trade deadline.

The New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Charlotte Hornets, and New Orleans Pelicans are among the teams that have contacted the Pacers about the 24-year-old shot-blocker, sources told the Indianapolis Star's J. Michael.

Indiana isn't actively shopping Turner, notes Michael. But with just three wins in their last 10 games dating back to Feb. 17, the 17-21 Pacers could revisit a potential deal ahead of the deadline.

Turner is in the second season of a four-year deal that includes a $17.5-million annual base salary. The Pacers nearly traded the Texas product to the Boston Celtics this past summer as part of a proposed sign-and-trade deal for Gordon Hayward.

Noel and a 1st round..Maybe?

Jmpasq @ 3/16/2021 4:53 PM
We must hate Mitch. Better than Drummond at least
TPercy @ 3/16/2021 4:56 PM
Hard to see them trading him but he's a very solid player. One of the best rim protectors in the league and a capable floor spacer though I'm a little disappointed at how he's regressed a little in that regard. He's definitely going to cost more than Noel and a 1st..Mitch is likely included in that deal I'm afraid.
TPercy @ 3/16/2021 4:57 PM
That's not to say that it Mitch in that deal is the worst thing but I really want to start resigning our own talent at some point.

I don't think they hate Mitch, but Myles is much more establish, and much better on both ends.

the pelican have the ability to throw Ball in a trade for Myles, don't know what the Lakers and clippers have to offer, they already gave up most of their assets to get the players they have now

The knicks can give them cap relief at best

Cap wise Myles makes more sense than Drummond cause he is under control, and they could trade say Obi for him.

Oh hell no

Philc1 @ 3/16/2021 5:30 PM
Why on earth would the pacers trade Turner? They love him. Even the article says they aren’t shopping him

Turner would cost us IQ. F that

ekstarks94 @ 3/16/2021 5:32 PM
Forgot who mentioned that all these rumors with NYK pursuing centers may be part of a negotiating tactic with his representation as they may be asking for too much $$$. It makes sense, but if you make that move for another center I would not wait and I would move Mitch by the deadline or the draft. I get the sense that he would not play the absolute good soldier...but I could be wrong since he is is a almost like contract yr.
Allanfan20 @ 3/16/2021 6:44 PM
I wouldn’t trade for anyone right now unless it’s something minor. I’d much rather see where we stand with this draft and how this team does down the stretch. It will be easier to assess our needs then.

Plus Turner is going to be way too expensive, as much as I like them. Why don’t we just say we are going after Sabonis too?

Most Pacers fans seem open to trading him from what I've seen. The Sabonis Turner front court just dosen't work and Sabonis is a poor defender.

Blogs throw up these rumors all day long.
EwingsGlass @ 3/16/2021 9:45 PM
This sounds like a retread of the Celtics rumors when they were trying to get value for Gordon Hayward. Turner was mentioned in those discussions but I am doubtful the Pacers are moving Turner for a 1st. He is leading the league in blocks per game...
joec32033 @ 3/17/2021 12:04 AM
Exactly the type of player they need. He plays the wrong position. They need a player with his skillset at the 3.

Alan Hahn maybe hinting these rumours are legit? (He said ion a podcast he will occasionally hint in code on his twitter as he's not allowed to come out and say it explicitly

I also hear the Knicks are interested in Jokic and Embiid.

I'll give Knox and a second for Jokic.

Embiid has injury concerns, going to need some draft compensation in return. They can have Rivers.

GMing is easy!

Joker is only worth a second. If they want Knox, then they need to throw in MPJ as well.

I think every rumor that the Knicks are in (or any team really but especially so with the Knicks cause of the clicks) have to be taken with a grain of salt and looked through that glass of Does this have an iota of sense behind it.

Both LA teams are hard capped and so ensconced in their respective rosters that it all but makes it impossible to trade for a player like Turner (a player like Drummond when he is bought out is obviously a bit different albeit still difficult). How does New Orleans even make sense when they already have Steven Adams and Zion, etc.?

With NY? They need to leverage Mitch a bit on his next contract and see what the market offers.

With Indiana? I'd guess that there is a fit thing with Turner and Sabonis? I'm guessing cause I don't follow the team. Also next year Doug McDermott and T.J. McConnell are UFA's and team is at $120M without them (I think they are part of the committed rotation?). I think Indiana is one of the more fiscally responsible (strapped?) teams out there. So maybe they want to offload a $18M contract for another low cost one in Mitch to balance out the salary sheet for another year?

Knicks would take on salary but would take on a good defensive player who actually has an offensive game while getting rid of a player who you can't place a finger on negotiation wise because you don't even know who his agent is this week.

IDK, that's just thinking out loud

I am actually okay with the idea of landing Turner- definitely more so than Drummond. Don't like all this smoke about us being interested in C's, unless it's part of negotiations with Mitch's agents.
