Will it be wise for Brock Aller to work his cap magic and help sign Lonzo to a high enough salary to make the Pelicans think twice in matching and will still leave the knicks flexible enough to sign another star and keep our youth?
Or knowing that Lonzo is interested in going to the Knicks in the summer would it force the hands of the Pelicans to trade Lonzo to the knicks now but at a lower cost since they might not have much leverage rather that loosing him in free agency?
Im liking a trade with Lonzo and Redick. Lonzo is the long term answer at the starting PG, Redick is the stop gap answer for the shooting woes of the team.

Are you saying that Lonzo has expressed in interest in signing with the Knicks. Obviously this would make the Knicks pursuit of him easier.
I like your first idea best trying to get him by simply signing him. This would leave the knicks with more assets they can trade to further improve the team.
My idea is moving up into the lotto to sign Corey Kispert he is the shooter the Knicks desperately need
There are articles that came out saying that Lonzo is looking at the knicks for the summer, also mentioned that Lavar wanted to stir Lonzo towards the knicks during the draft. I think Lonzo can be the answer for the starting PG, the question now is how to get him in the roster. Its said that the FO is higher on Lonzo that Oladipo heading to the trade deadline.
The knicks are getting close to being a very good team, i hope the FO can maintain a level head as they try to reach the final goal. No Melo type trade please by the deadline.

Single-game net ratings aren’t great barometers but it further shows the norm for Ball with the Pelicans this season. When Ball is on the court this season, the Pelicans have a net rating of 1.5, the highest net rating of any regular rotation player. When he’s off the court, their net rating plummets to minus-5.1, the lowest on the team by some margin

My ideal scenario is for the knicks trade for Lonzo and Redick by the deadline, the package will be Knox, frank, payton, burks(any 2-3 players from here) the Dallas 1st round pick and a second rounder. The knicks responds well with the addition and makes the playoffs and reaches the second round. In the offseason Kahwi becomes an unrestricted free agent and signs with the knicks. They still have alot of draft picks to fine tune the roster and make a small trade or 2. This team is young and can contend for 10 years.

Lonzo has been huge for them and there is still a chance the Pelicans are willing to bite the bullet and match even a very high offer. 20M or more might be Lonzo's price in free agency. Is that a price the front office can swallow or is giving up 3 players and at most 2 first rounders is a better price if Lonzo is willing to sign for around 15-18M?

I’m willing to give up 3 guys on our roster except Randle Barret iq. Mitch would hurt and Toppin would hurt because we don’t know what he can be yet. But I would swallow the bullet for cade or suggs or Lonzo for any combination of Knox rivers Frank Toppin Mitch and a first round pick from this yeAr and a first round pick in the future. Or all three picks this year and Toppin to move up a few spots to get suggs.
There are some centers in this years draft that can be comparable to Mitch as far as production goes.
But it would be like starting all over with the learning curve with a puppy center

I agree...let's use our out-of-rotation young assets and extra picks to snag Lonzo and Reddick now. This will help us compete this year and get us to the stage where a superstar feels he's the final piece for contention...all the better if that's Kawhi!
LOVE this plan. And I think Lonzo will own NYC. He has the right attitude, competitive drive, and flashiness to excel here.

Yeah i think if the only big contracts are Randle extended and Ball at 15-20 per year than we have the flexibility needed. As for Robinson I have a feeling they will keep the options open and play hard ball with him. He’s a center who can’t shoot so his value may not be that high.
Don’t forget LaMarr comes with Lonzo. Then that brings that non stopping spewing that will promote Lamelo to the delight of bloggers and the gullible fans.

If we are winning and Lonzo is playing defense. Making obi or Toppin look better. Hitting his 3 at 35-40 percent. Taking the ball out of randles hands bringing the ball up. Setting Randle up in better position so he can conserve energy and competing in the finals it’s worth it.
Lonzo is not the savior. He would be the floor general. The savior is the big piece we get after him.

Feel like if you are going to try to trade for Lonzo he will come at the cost of also having to absorb Bledsoe not Redick (or both) plus a first round pick. That would be the baseline.
Bledsoe has a $3.9M guarantee for 2022-23 season and makes $18M next year.
