Some of you are too impatient. You knew Obi didnt have the time most rooks have to get ready for the season. Tougher for bigs, they dont handle the rock as much.
In the movies they sometimes say "Its quiet...too quiet."
Felt the same way about Obi's game.
I am still pro-Knox. I could see him coming back after this offseason, with these coaches and just being a monster. He is still 21 years old! Just getting stronger and smarter. I think he will be fine.

Those calling him a bust will be surprised by him next year and three years from now.
He is athletic. He can pass. He is working night and day on his shot. He will get stronger and be a force in this league.
The Obi Bashing was always ridiculous

Positives
Knox did figure out last off season how to shoot a respectable percentage from 3.
He actually has improved defensively
Negatives
He gives off low motor vibes and lack of desire.
This off-season he needs to learn complete his game. When ran off the three being comfortable to step into a 20 footer and Knick it Di
Down. Also when ran off the three having the body control to get to the rim and be a threat.
He figured out how to shoot respectable lady off season.now he has to put the entire game toghethor.
Anytime it seems he not in a c/s situation a turnover is about to happen or a off balance low percentage shot is going up. I’m looking for the next step in his game.

I can't think of one low motor guy who ended up being a star. Harden may be the closest I can come up with.

Harden Low motor? You mean a workhorse who missed very few games in his career, lead the league in scoring, is strong like bull and gets to his spot with elite fundamentals has a low motor?
Long and lanky guys that did not look quick: Connie Hawkins deceptive strides and he could fly), Timmy Duncan looked slow, Kiki Vandeweghe, Lamarcu Aldridge.....many others.
I can’t imagine that KNox has lost that stroke. I think they took this kid apart and has yet to come back together. Is he lifting? His handle? His stride (more power to the rim), etc and with little practice time and not under Thibs preseason enough I wonder if his head is just a mess. I think they are trying to make him into a PF given build longer term. Just a guess.
I also think they are converting Frank into a wing player as well. I’m not saying both stick. One can’t even really look at their games to see whats changing if anything. They don’t play enough. Frank showed some instinctive shooting but that takes minutes on the court to demonstrate. Thibs sees how they practice, we don’t.
Obi started the season hitting that three. Then he starts airballing it. Looks like a dude hitting the weights but the touch is starting to come back. Once that shot starts hitting they have to respect it, then he can start getting to the rim easier.
NBA the doubles come fast and furious and he has to be able to kick it out. This makes Randles “Spinover” gone and his assists much higher this year. This is not an easy skill to learn when your used to being the man in College and earlier. Today’s game is far more 3 pt centric and a must.
DRose is making some amazing passes out of the lane. IQ has only begun to scratch the surface with this and its why he is as ready as some fans think. DRose is super impressive for the shots he DOES NOT TAKE and he passes out. His decision making under Thibs is perhaps right up there with Randle and RJ’s surge in talent!!
Fact is team is winning and the team is cohesive. Thats all that matters for now.

No, I would mean a low motor guy who looks like he's glued to the floor on D, and a guy who I still have no idea how he gets most of his shots off around the paint other than pure strength. Strength doesn't always equal high motor. He does have elite release and handles, but I would agree with the previous post, Harden has got to be the lowest motor I've ever seen in a star player since George Gervin.

I get what your saying. He is one of the goats low motor guys (amazing) lol

Yeah, like I said, I can't really come up with anybody. You're right, Harden just plays at his own pace, so he's not really low motor either (though it seems like some other people think he is). So back to my point, I can't think of anybody.
How fuckin great was Rose outlet to streaking obi for the fast break last night!
I’m digging the low sample Obi highlights as time goes on!
I know we all want “more IQ” and since randle is at this level we not clambering for more OBI.
While we have lots of threads today on adding Zion, trade Mitch, or get CP3 how great are those guys coming along and if it takes two more seasons why rush it or cash it in prematurely? Thats old knick stuff.
Fact is we got more picks coming in and if this group can do this after less than one season imagine a future of picks, developing player and THEN trading them at high valuations either players or picks!!!!!
I’m in no hurry to quell future anxiety when we enjoying the current season.
fitzfarm wrote:Nalod wrote:Thibs breaks his yoot. Then he puts you back together. Question is can a young man stick?
Agreed obi is playing DEFENSE... if he can come in and score 9-12pts a game that’s awesome for backing up our star in randle
The problem with Obi is he has no positional versatility. So if there is a deal out there that makes sense we should trade him. Better off with a combo forward who can give mimutes at the 3 and 4. He is blocked on this roster. Don't give him away but if we can package him to get back a starting SF or PG we should do it

Yeah and after we make noice in the playoffs I think we will become as great of a FA destination as we have not been since the 90ties..
Doe Westbrook make that pass????
You betcha! Not only that, he catches his own pass, and gets his own assist!!!!
Obi showing Amar're like glimpses tonight.

He scored 4 points. We are well on our way to Frank like threads for Obi.

Hence the word "glimpses" .Was more focused on the difficulty of his points than the quantity. Played good D as well.

I was re-watching that clip cause Obi flew down the floor. Rose didn’t get to fill speed, but man I didn’t expect to see Obi getting ahead of him.

Once again, can we hold off on these proclamations? Let the kids have an off season to work on his body and let's see what he looks like next year. I'm not willing to declare that Obi can't give you minutes at the 3 in certain situations based on the match up. And wouldn't it nice to not have to play Randle 40 minutes because the drop-off is too steep when we go to the bench.
It's as if people locked in on their Obi take and won't budge no matter what he does.
Next year will be a big one for Obi - if he develops into a player Thibs can trust, he can be paired anyone in pick and roll sets, including Randle. The Knicks need to figure out if Obi can guard 3-5’s.Thibs doesn’t seem to have the stomach the risk more than a few mins of OBi when he already knows has strong defenders in Noah/Taj/Bullock at those spots.
