IT has never been the Destination at no point in the last 30+ yrs. We see guys put the knicks on their (TRADE Wish LIST) and the only time that played out was with MELO, As soon as these guys become FA they go elsewhere.

It's pretty simple: Knicks never had cap space and the players that they did have on the team were deadweight, so it was virtually impossible for FAs to flock. As well, the team sucked, so why would a player go to NY when there were other destinations that were equally as desirable (ie LA).

But when they did get cap space, it was used on Randle. And the process continues.

Walsh had cap space $40+ mill

Phil had Cap space $40+ mill

Mills Had cap space $80 mill

Leon had cap space $35+ mill

At this point I just think we need to make a major trade as opposed to relying on FREE AGENTS

It's good to have the cap space to facilitate trades, but even that didn't work out last off season.

I do think RJ and Randle is a good Tandem to build around.

Sac kings having FOX and Haliburton (2 PGS), maybe they would take Toppin and Knox for haliburton and a late 1st

That’s the beauty of flexibility. Hitting on a stud draft pick would be the best case scenario as the cost would be low, see RJ. After that signing a FA would be the best case scenario since assets wouldn’t need to be given. After that you can expire trades which hopefully being dealt from a position of strength which make sense for the current situation.

Knicks have put themselves in a position to be able to improve at all available routes possible given the NBA structure. Just have to make the correct decisions based on what’s available and presented before them. If that means making a trade or not because the value isn’t worth it. Or signing a FA or not. So be it

All of the players i had wish the knicks traded for at the deadline (dipo, drummond, Fournier, Markannan) have had little no impact on their new teams. I completely understand not trading for BALL (i heard they wanted mitch and a 1st rnder) plus that would have meant benching IQ, ROSE, or Payton, and thibs loves all 3 of those guys.

The better this team plays, the harder it will be to break them up

Love it! Not that I wouldn't have loved if the Knicks plan to get Zion worked, but RJ is an easier fit for any team. He'd have been the unicorn all over again, though in this case, a beefy, bowling ball of a unicorn. You have to modify your team to make him work. (KP is much easier for Dallas to work with now that he's gotten enough meat to play center, though he'll always be an injury risk; Zion, with his bulk/speed/power is an injury risk for his shoes and knees)

RJ's just your prototypical wing. Boring in a way. (Aww shucks)

Great article on the modification of RJs’ shot. Also, some very damning things were said about the previous coaching regime. Not good. Maybe RJ would have had a better start to his career if not for this.

The early returns were positive and Barrett was making progress but when he arrived at training camp the Knicks coaching staff then in place pushed back and demanded their prize rookie bring his elbow closer to his body again. The season turned into a struggle. The Knicks flailed to a 4-18 start, fired head coach David Fizdale and eventually cleaned out their management ranks too.

Barrett was caught in the crossfire.

“Not pointing fingers, but there was a level of frustration that he played with because he felt like he had made the shot change that he needed to make during the pre-draft and after putting three months of hard work to lock in those mechanics, they instantly go tweaked and changed to a place where he felt really uncomfortable and he lacked the confidence and consistency he needed,” said Hanlen.

“And I don’t think people understand how frustrating it is when you have someone telling you to do something with your shot that doesn’t allow you to be consistent, comfortable and confident, it really added a ton of frustration to your game that makes it very, very hard to play.”

If someone had told me a few years ago that Porzingis would not receive a new contract with us, I would have told him that it is not normal. Until a month or two ago, I was sure that Mitch would stay safe...now I'm not so sure anymore.

RJ should really be a safe thing, but you never know...

There were so many signs that KP was on his way out once he skipped the EXIT meeting, MILLS didn't get fired with Phil, trading Melo and willy (the 2 players he was close to) and his brothers comments about needing to show progress and we turned around and TANKED.

I always said Losing brings misery and constant change, winning builds stability and growth (no major trades at the deadline even though we had cap space)

That makes RJ's situation different, because we are starting to win more and he's actually getting better, especially in his 2nd season where most of our 1st round picks have not been doing.

Damn Rainman, you made that statement up? That's some wise ass MF'ing sage greek philosophy type statement you made just now.......

I bet you the man-about-Town with you held up high and shoulders back passing on all kinds of things that just adds to "accreditation of 1248" into the annuls of great men making great statements......
In fact, you a regular "Tony Robbins" kinda wealth of motivational inspiring notations!
I bet a room goes quiet when walk in the door with legions of followers hanging on your word!

Just so we set the record straight, sometimes Misery brings losing. Sometimes its a lack of talent. Instabilty. losing can be a symptom of something else. That's not what I always say, its just logic.
Winning can be a symptom of Talent, Chemistry, and as you said stability. Do I always say this? No, its widely universally known. What I will always do is call out bullshyt. Not hard smell it when it reeks.
"Reek1248"....New era!
