Knicks · Gotta give Julius Randle mvp votes (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 5/2/2021 9:47 PM
Simple as that. Glad he’s on our team
Knixkik @ 5/2/2021 9:55 PM
He’s a true superstar. The game just comes so easy to him now. He’s dominant in every way imaginable. Knicks really lucked out with his unprecedented improvements.
BRIGGS @ 5/2/2021 10:18 PM
Knicks gotta be a dark horse championship contender right now. Maybe an under dog but we have a lot of ingredients. Superstar. 2 all star caliber great role players good d smart play
GustavBahler @ 5/2/2021 10:27 PM
As others have pointed out MVP, or MIP. Funny that RJ's competition for MIP is Randle. They have both worked their butts off.
TPercy @ 5/2/2021 11:10 PM
Some of the shots he made today are ridiculous. He’s playing out of his mind right now. I can’t wait to see him once we get a solid full time PG.
Philc1 @ 5/3/2021 2:29 AM
He definitely deserves to be in the conversation. I just don’t see lazy knick haters in the media voting for him

I want to see us actually win a game against Philly or the Nets. Now, that said, we were 0-4 versus the Jordan and the bulls regular season of 1992 and took them to 7 games so sure anything is possible

No way- I love the team, and they work hard, but we've seen similar Bulls Thibs teams and what happened to them in the playoffs- hard work will get you far but you also need elite talent and we don't have enough yet. That's not a knock on the team, but I don't think you've watched enough of the top teams or you'd see the chasm between us and them.

xavier @ 5/3/2021 8:08 AM
Briggs, I really love this team and what they’ve done is great. Roster, which was predicted by almost everyone to fight for picks at the top of the draft, now holds 4th place in the east a few games before the end of the regular season.

But we are not contenders, not even a dark horse contenders. What keeps this team so high is the intensity of the defense that Thibs doesn’t let fall down at any point. Most other teams don’t play the regular season that way and the Knicks, who play hard and stubborn, separate at some point.

However, in the playoffs, other teams will play that way and I am afraid that then the lack of quality will come to the fore. True, this team constantly surprises me, so maybe they will do it this time as well, but realistically I don't have too high expectations from the playoffs. I hope I'm wrong.

Dark horse. Very dark. Or very Horse?
Love this season and all that has occurred. Team is finishing strong and “Lazy media” is giving it much love.
Playoffs are a different animal and great learning for Randle and RJ. Talent and potential can carry you but so far.
I expect any team we play will not be given an easy run. Ironic that play in teams might be tired but honed sharp by the experience to get there and survive.

IN this the strangest of seasons we could make a “Miami type run” which by itself becomes must see TV.
While we have been improving so has Milwaukee who had many new faces added.
We don’t match up with Philly but could Embiid really play thru a 7 game series?
Wizards are scarey for any team to match up.
Miami is still potent.
Nets need 2 of three to be healthy. Griffith is kind of becoming the glue guy. Talent is massive. We know the rest.

I’d love a Knick/Net series. Time for the rivalry to start. It might be in NY based fans minds but really nobody outside of the Metro area cares yet.

Meanwhile PHX has the best record in the league. Lakers Frontcourt will be a handful for PHX if it comes to that. Backcourt to PHX.
In a long series that benefits Lakers. This is not March madness. Might be sooner than we think!

He should get MVP votes. But MVP routinely goes to the superstar whose on the team with top record. Unless a player does something unprecedented. Like Westbrook averaging an triple double. Out of the Suns, Jazz, 76ers, Nets. Embiid will be the one to get the nod. CP3 will also get strong consideration.

No love for Nikola Jokić whose team is one of the top 5 and went 9-1 after Jamal Murray went down?

Averaging 26ppg, 11rbs, 8.5ast

Julius isnt MVP... he def isnt having the season Joker is but it doesnt take away from how utterly brilliant he's shown this season. True all star and foundational player.

On a side note I am super glad we hired an antiquated retread. Arent you Briggs?

Julius Randle wrote:“I give a lot of credit to Thibs. He’s our leader, man,” Julius Randle said in an interview with Knicks die-hard fan and legendary hip hop artist Fat Joe on Instagram. “He came in from the very first day and said, yo, this is who we’re gonna be as a team. He established who we are. Every night, this is what we’re gonna do.”

I love Ju, but the sht the Jokic does is incredible for his size. His IQ and skill set is a site to behold, he can shoot over anybody anywhere on the court on any leg, can make dead on passes from any angle on the court from any length, can rebound the ball with barely jumping an inch of the ground.

He's my MVP, julias would have to be 2nd or 3rd.

With Embiid and LBJ (the early favorites) missing so many games, they should be excluded

And just a reminder what DRose used to do to defenses... utterly amazing athlete

A tremendous number of MVP candidates and All-NBA "locks" have missed so many games that it would be criminal to hand over the awards without careful consideration.

14 games missed in this short season (almost 19.4% of games in a 72 game regular season) is my cut off. If you missed more, you should be ruled out from MVP and 1st team all-NBA considerations. That rules out forwards and bigs like Lebron (43 games), AD (29 games), and Embiid. Sorry guys, you don't get award consideration for sitting (yet somehow NBA.com's MVP Ladder still considers Giannis and Embiid!)! Putting things in perspective, most NBA teams have played ~62-65 games at this point.

That leaves us with Jokic (64 games), Doncic (58 games), CP3 (63 games), Randle (63 games), Giannis (54 games), Steph Curry (56 games), Lillard (59 games) as my top candidates for all-NBA 1st team spots and MVP. A few dark horse candidates for 1st team: Zion Williamson (59 games, team currently in 11th, around 3 games out), Tatum (56 games), Westbrook, who is averaging an absurd 22/11/11 triple double for the season, and whose team is making a late run for a post-season berth.

If the season ended today, my All-NBA 1st team includes: Jokic, Randle, Doncic, CP3, and Curry.

Panos @ 5/3/2021 9:01 PM

Very totally true. When ever has a player in the NBA improved this massively and suddenly after several years in the league. It's lightning in a bottle!

Other teams maybe be more talented, but there's something about a team that plays defense and plays for one another. We don't just have a couple of guys playing well, we have 10 guys contributing on both ends.

I don't think we have one bad defender on this roster
