Impact matters for everything but rookies. Quickley is the only rookie putting up good numbers on a winning team in a meaningful role, but for some reason is treated the same as every other rookie that averages double figure scoring numbers.
Wow...Quicks impact on this team is clear with the eye test and the advanced stats back that up. This is one of the reasons I've been calling for more PT. He deserves a spot on the first team for sure.

This first team logic is becoming a little outdated. It’s pretty clear that the starting 10 has primary scoring option and secondary scoring option at all times on the court. Primary has free reign to make a play or pass it. Randle is Primary option. Barrett is his second.
In the rotation, Rose appears to be primary option when on the floor. That said, Rose appears to be giving up the ball to IQ quite a bit. IQ’s freedom extends to the logo for taking shots.
I see IQ has 3rd or 4th scoring option. No reason to rush him where he and Rose appear to be sharing the ball well.
If IQ isn’t all rookie we riot. They arnt going to pull that bs they did with RJ.

IQ is great and of course his influence is greater because he plays on the winning team, but to some extent it makes sense that when voting for the rookie of the year it is not taken into account as much as with the MVP voting. Most of the better rookies typically play in worse teams so voting would usually be very inconsistent when that was taken into account.

I wanted to write to him right away that you're not talking about the Knicks' starting five but the first rookie team...but you wrote the sentence before that he deserves more PT and then that he should be in the "first team" so it could really be interpreted in both ways

I’m so intrigued to see how he will develop, will he become more ball handling, passing oriented for example? I’d like him to become like our version of Marcus Smart from BOS. That would be an incredible asset.

haha... well done. I was gonna be like I'm kinda with EwingsGlass on this one but I think we all agree.. IQ is super important to this squad and a huge part of the future.
How IQ isnt all rookie is nuts. He's gotta be first team

Writers changed the rule book last year to screw RJ out of the all rookie list in favor of a more efficient advance stats player who got traded for nothing at the deadline (when they never used to use efficiency as the determining factor for rookies before then), so it will be interesting to see where IQ lands when they do the voting this year…

Also will be interesting what lens they use to the ROY (personally, I'd still give it to Melo.) Will they give it to the slow, steady and efficient Hal or will they give to Edwards, the Knucklehead Highlight Reel.
Edwards is having a better impractical on Minnys rise to respectability. This one of those funky years where no rookie is clearly above. A “Have to give it to someone” type award. Higher the pick does seem to matter unfortunately. We are no doubt biased.
